Sgraffito, the carving technique, involves painting onto the clay body and then scratching the painted surface away to reveal the porcelain underneath. It is a time consuming process that only the obsessive would pursue.

my ceramic studio is out of commission at the moment, but i can still find some joy by practicing storybook pony portraits that were initiated by a three year old girl out of the love for her favorite pony. my old cracked ipad is a fun way to work without a studio or messy media right now. gotta keep creating...it leads to unexpected places!
