๐Ÿšจ Real talk โ€” this just happened to ME.
I got an alert today that my email address was found on the dark web, tied to a data breach from Chrysler. Even those of us in cybersecurity aren't immune!
This is exactly why we preach what we preach. If you get an alert like this (from services like IDnotify, LifeLock, or even Google), here's what to do:
โœ… Change the password on the breached account immediately
โœ… Update that same password everywhere else you've used it
โœ… Turn on two-factor authentication on your email
โœ… Stay alert for phishing emails โ€” hackers use breached emails to target you
โœ… Use a password manager โ€” if you're reusing passwords across sites, you're one breach away from a domino effect. A password manager creates and stores unique, complex passwords for every account so you never have to reuse one again
Your personal information being exposed doesn't automatically mean fraud has happened โ€” but it's a warning shot. Don't ignore it.
๐Ÿ’ก Not sure if your info is out there? Ask us. Protecting your data is what we do every day.

๐Ÿ” Are you still using the same password for everything?
You're not alone โ€” but it's one of the riskiest habits in cybersecurity. If that one password gets stolen in a breach, it becomes a skeleton key to your entire digital life: email, banking, work accounts, all of it.
The fix is easier than you think: a password manager.
In just a few minutes, you can have a tool that:
โœ… Generates long, complex, unique passwords for every account
โœ… Stores and autofills them securely โ€” no more sticky notes or notebooks
โœ… Works across all your devices
โœ… Alerts you when a password may be compromised
โœ… Protects you from phishing sites
The best part? Quality password managers use strong encryption and zero-knowledge architecture โ€” meaning even the company storing your passwords can't see them. Pair it with multi-factor authentication and you've got serious protection.
At Black Belt Network Security, this is the kind of simple-but-powerful layer we help businesses implement every day. Small steps like this make a huge difference in keeping your data โ€” and your clients' data โ€” safe.

๐Ÿšจ Did you know most breaches don't start with a hacker โ€” they start with a conversation?
At Black Belt Network Security, we call it The Social Engineering Attack Chain โ€” the 5-stage journey attackers use to go from zero to full breach:
๐Ÿ”ง Stage 1 โ€“ Setup: They build a fake version of your world. Look-alike domains, deepfake personas, spoofed profiles of your leadership. AI makes this faster and more convincing than ever.
๐Ÿ“ค Stage 2 โ€“ Launch: The weapon is sent โ€” a phishing email, a text, a fake ad, or a phone call designed to look legitimate.
๐Ÿ“ฅ Stage 3 โ€“ Contact: It lands. In your inbox. On your phone. Inside your organization's perimeter.
๐Ÿ’ฌ Stage 4 โ€“ Engagement: This is where it gets dangerous. The victim starts clicking, responding, and following instructions โ€” often guided by AI in real time.
๐Ÿ’ฅ Stage 5 โ€“ Compromise: Stolen credentials. Fraudulent wire transfers. Ransomware. Game over.
The scariest part? Most employees wouldn't recognize it happening until it's too late.
That's exactly why we're here. BBNS provides the tools, training, and monitoring to break the chain โ€” before Stage 5 ever happens.

Your firewall was up to date. MFA was enabled. You did everything right. And you still got hit.

That's exactly what happened to Marquis Software Solutions โ€” a fintech company serving over 700 banks and credit unions. In August 2025, attackers bypassed their firewall and deployed ransomware. Not because Marquis was careless. Because their security vendor, SonicWall, had already been breached months earlier โ€” and the attackers used stolen backup files containing Marquis's credentials and MFA bypass codes to walk right in.

Marquis is now fighting 36+ consumer class action lawsuits and has sued SonicWall for gross negligence.

TechCrunch covered the full story: https://techcrunch.com/2026/02/24/marquis-sonicwall-lawsuit-ransomware-firewall-breach/

This is the part nobody talks about: your security is only as strong as the vendors behind it.

At Black Belt Network Security, we don't just hand you a firewall and wish you luck. Our 24/7 SOC โ€” powered by SentinelOne XDR โ€” continuously monitors your environment and responds to threats in real time. We're watching the whole stack, not just the edges.

If you're not sure who's watching your network right now, let's have a conversation. ๐Ÿ‘‡

โš ๏ธ SECURITY ALERT: Fake AI Website Stealing Your Data ๐Ÿšจ
Cybercriminals built a fake website impersonating Claude (a popular AI tool) โ€” and if you downloaded "Claude" from the wrong site, your computer may be infected right now.
Here's what happened in plain English:
Hackers set up a website that looks exactly like the real Claude AI site. When you download the app from that fake site, you get the real Claude app โ€” PLUS hidden malware running silently in the background.
That hidden malware gives criminals complete remote access to your computer. They can see your files, your passwords, your banking โ€” everything. And because it hides itself after installing, most people have no idea it's even there.
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Protect Yourself Right Now:
Only download AI tools from the official website โ€” double-check the URL before clicking anything
If you downloaded Claude recently, check where you got it from โ€” the real site is claude.ai
Make sure you have up-to-date endpoint protection on every device โ€” basic antivirus won't catch this one
Think you may be affected? Don't wait โ€” call your IT provider today
This is exactly why we say: trust nothing, verify everything. Cybercriminals are getting better at making fakes look real. One wrong click is all it takes.

๐Ÿšจ Rockstar Games hacked โ€” AGAIN!
The makers of GTA 6 have confirmed they've suffered another data breach, this time at the hands of hacker group ShinyHunters. The group reportedly exploited a third-party cloud tool to access Rockstar's internal data โ€” and is now threatening to release it after ransom negotiations reportedly fell through.
What could be in that leaked data? Financial records from GTA Online and Red Dead Online, player spending data, and even contracts with Sony, Microsoft, voice actors, and music labels. ๐Ÿ‘€
Rockstar's official response? "This incident has no impact on our organization or our players." Basically: nothing to see here, folks. ๐Ÿคท
But with hackers saying they're going public with the data, it might be a bit early to downplay things...
At Black Belt Network Security, we know that third-party tool vulnerabilities are one of the most overlooked attack surfaces in any organization. This breach is a textbook reminder โ€” your security is only as strong as the tools you trust. ๐Ÿ”
Don't wait for a ransom demand to take security seriously. Stay protected. Stay proactive. ๐Ÿ’ช

GTA 6 makers Rockstar confirms it was hacked again, claims the breach had "no impact" as the hackers look set to release the data.

๐Ÿ”“ A patch was available. They just didn't apply it.

Last month, LexisNexis โ€” a company that literally describes itself as "one of the largest protectors of private and confidential data in the world" โ€” confirmed a data breach that exposed roughly 400,000 user profiles, including contact information for federal judges, DOJ attorneys, and SEC staff.

How did it happen? A known vulnerability called React2Shell (CVE-2025-55182) had been publicly disclosed in November 2025. The patch was available in early December. CISA added it to their actively-exploited vulnerability catalog and told organizations to patch within a week.

LexisNexis hadn't patched it by February 24, 2026 โ€” when attackers walked right in.

Once inside, it got worse. A single misconfigured cloud role gave the attackers read access to every secret in the account โ€” production database credentials, 53 cloud secrets stored in plaintext, and a complete map of their infrastructure. Oh, and the production database master password? Lexis1234.

This isn't a story about a sophisticated nation-state attack. It's a story about skipped patches and poor hygiene.

At Black Belt Network Security, this is exactly what our managed services are built to prevent. Continuous vulnerability monitoring. Proactive patch management. Configuration reviews that catch over-permissive access before an attacker finds it first.

This one was preventable. Don't let it be your story.
