Small Art, Big Party

I donated this piece for Art Wellesley’s Small Art, Big Party. Art Wellesley makes art-centered events happen in their community. It was a fun evening of catching up with old friends and other participating artists. And I had the honor of meeting some of the peeps behind all the awesome work. Well...

Somebody got to go home with this sweet piece last night… it was touch and go, but it sold. 🙌

All in support of ArtWellesley at their Small Art, Big Party. All work 8” x 8” and $100. A lively event to support their work of bringing art to the community in a myriad of ways. Rock on AW. The world needs more art and more Beauty!✨

A few of my favorite things, birches, stonewalls, wildflowers and farm ponds.

Urban Pears? Apples? Who knew such abundance grew on the mean streets of Cambridge? 😊

5x7 Matted monotype. ✨

MFA trip—a couple works that resonated. This and next slide part of Suzanne Jackson’s What is Love exhibition. “People need beauty”

Ain’t it the truth.

Jenny Holzer’s prescient work from the eighties.

Edifying as I swing from looking for Beauty in everything and despair for the country’s current state of affairs. When the word ‘Really?’ Is on everyday repeat.

Open Studios— The balloons have deflated, but
holy cow, who knew Open Studios would be such a heart-opener. It was a joyful, connection-kind-of-day. I used to think painting alone in my studio was the bee’s knees and my happy place; I’m a bit of an introvert. But connecting with people all weekend was a real joy. Sending out a big thank you to all my friends and the families, neighbors, artists, and organizers who stopped by. It was lovely to see you.

So happy to have our new garage as additional space to unfold in, even if temporarily. 💃🏼

Getting seduced by oil. Waah. First world problem for sure, but where my head is none-the-less.
Summer has me dropping down rabbit holes and experimenting. So much to explore. Always with a deep love of color and a dogged energy to confound myself... 😊

Rückenfigur

Visitation: Artist at the Window Collage, 19.5”x 25.5” framed In naming this collage for a juried show, I came across the term Rückenfigur (translated directly: back-figure). It's a compositional device that uses a foregrounded figure, seen from behind, contemplating the view before them. Often...
