Here are three takes, pulling the real numbers through and trimming to 5 hashtags:

1. Witty/Punchy
Art call fees have a way of sneaking up on you 💸

One submission? No big deal. Ten submissions later, you've quietly spent ~$200 before shipping, framing, or printing even enters the chat.

We pulled real 2026 listing data to see what's actually normal:

→ most entry fees land around $20
→ fiber art + printmaking run higher (~$25) than digital art (~$17)
→ Deep South calls average ~$31, West Coast ~$17
→ some fees are just... a lot

Most artists think art calls are basically a locked door 🫠 The data says otherwise 👀

We pulled real submission and jurying numbers from completed shows on EntryThingy:

→ Entry-juried shows: 62.4% accepted
→ Piece-juried shows: only 35.6% (this is the harder one)
→ First submission: 58.3% accepted. 4–10 submissions: 78.5%
→ Last-minute submitters: 60%. Early submitters: 75%

Rejection feels like a verdict on your talent. Really it's often just timing, prep, and fit doing the talking.

Feeling afraid is normal when you're growing. It's not a sign you're incapable. It's a sign you're trying something that matters.

Write down the worst case. Read it to someone you trust. Let your friends help you. Breathe.

Getting rejected from art calls? ❌ Let's talk about it.

We looked at how artists actually apply, and honestly, it's rarely talent. It's usually one of these:

→ Applying to calls that aren't your medium, stage, or fit
→ Skipping the fine print (yes, they do check)
→ Submitting a portfolio that isn't quite ready
→ Rushing it at 11:58pm with generic answers

None of these mean you're not good enough. They mean the application needed five more minutes.
