A brand imbued with deep meaning and symbolism 🪭

Here’s a look at the significance of the branding design for my client, a goddess oracle and spiritual coach...

The logo is architectural and temple-like, representative of classical Greek architecture—an ancient dedication to the goddesses that still stands today 🏛️

The H monogram stands for ‘Helena’ and represents Ionic columns and the High Priestess, an expression of the divine feminine who is seen in the tarot as sitting between two columns. The contrast within the monogram represents the duality of light + shadow.

Overall, the brand design conveys a balanced sense of masculine structure providing containment, support, and safety for the divine feminine. It also expresses a lush sensuality that reflects the energy that my client embodies in her life and work 🌹

*coughs* I’m dusting off the ol ig 🌬️🌬️🌬️to share a peek at a project I completed last year for goddess oracle & spiritual guide, Helena Murray 🌹 ⁣

Helena’s background as a jazz singer in London came through in this moody, glam branding design with a rich, sultry color palette. The addition of bright colors adds a playful and unexpected contrast to the brand’s dark sensuality, making for a visual identity that feels grounded, yet fresh and dynamic. The design was also intentionally crafted to reflect three main expressions of the Divine Feminine: The Love Goddess, Green Goddess, and Dark Goddess 🖤 ⁣

More to come! I’ve also been sitting on quite a few other projects... drop a like or comment if you want to see what I’ve been working on ✨⁣

I decided to try an experiment... I took a generic Squarespace template and ONLY changed the fonts and colors—the layout and content (text + photos) is exactly the same.⁣ This before & after shows how much of an impact colors and fonts have on your website. Changing those two things can completely transform your online presence.⁣

Why is it that something as simple as these basic design elements can make such a difference?⁣ It’s because they communicate a ton of information subconsciously. Each font has a personality and every color has its own significance.⁣ When used intentionally, they convey an overall “vibe,” known as your visual identity that communicates who you are, non-verbally.⁣

If we were meeting in person, I’d smile and say “hey, I’m Anika!” 👋 You might pause tentatively and I’d follow up with: “it’s like Monica with the M.” (At least that’s how that usually goes.) 🙃

I am a Brand Alchemist, Strategist, and Designer. That means that I use spirituality + strategy + design to help you transmute your business into its highest expression.

Branding has always felt like magic to me. And seeing my clients’ reactions as they witness their brand’s “Cinderella” moment is validation enough that it *is* magic.

Yet there can be so much more.

Since starting on my path as a brand designer over 10 years ago, I’ve discovered that there’s a potent opportunity for manifestation as you’re building your brand. The processes are similar: you clear out what no longer serves you, clarify your intentions, visualize it, and take inspired action to bring it into being.

What are you ready to manifest in your business? Drop a 💰 for money, ⚖️ for balance, ✨ for more flow, or add your own!

Moodboards are a key part of the — they guide the visual direction for the overall look and feel of your brand (aka its ~*vibe*~). Kinda like a vision board for your branding, it helps you get clear on your style and aesthetic.⁣

Inspiration can come from anywhere.⁣

For the for my own brand, I drew inspiration from interior design, the lighting on the folds of silk fabric, the color and tones in a portrait of and The Star card from the Modern Witch tarot deck.⁣

What are you currently inspired by? ✨

When you invest in logo design, you’re not just getting *a* logo...

At least, you shouldn’t be.

You’re getting a primary logo, secondary logo, monogram or mark (like this one) — all in multiple colorways, including a one color version — in both print and web formats. When it’s all said and done, you might have closer to 15 logos. 🤯

You’re also getting the brand identity system that represents the overall look and feel of your brand with fonts, colors, and visuals.

And most importantly, you’re getting the brand strategy that informs the design for all of the above.

All of these elements come together to form a solid foundation for your brand. A logo is just one slice of the branding pie 🥧

New logo, who dis?⁣⁣

This is the third logo I’ve had for Incandescent Creative since starting the business in 2012. (The problem with being a designer and running your own business is that you have a constant urge to redesign everything 😬) But I have a feeling that I’ll keep this logo around for awhile…⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s simple, clean, and versatile. The font (from one of my absolute favorite type foundries) holds its own. It’s elegant yet interesting. Classic yet modern. And personally, I love the contrast of sharp edges and rounded curves—a balance of yin and yang, feminine and masculine—a reminder of the duality in all things. ☯️⁣⁣

Last week, I quietly launched my new website—a true that’s been 10 months in the making.⁣

After not touching my business in over 3 years (yikes, I know), I was at a crossroads: I had to decide whether to tear it all down and rebuild, or to just pull the plug entirely.⁣

Option A was incredibly daunting—where would I even begin? Is it worth it? Do I want to keep putting money into a website, email list, etc? Option B was clearly the easy way out...⁣

Maybe it’s because I had just gone through a spiritual awakening, where everything in my personal life was torn down and in the process of being rebuilt (so what’s one more thing?!), or maybe it’s because I have a general mistrust of “the easy way,” but I decided that it was worth a shot. (And let’s be real: what else was I going to do in lockdown?)⁣

So, between full-time WFH and daily kundalini sessions via Zoom, I’d find time to work on my business...slowly but surely. Until eventually I had a new logo. And then an updated color palette. Followed by a manifesto, a hero section on the homepage, and so on. Bit by bit, it all came together until I had to force my Virgo ass to finally declare it GOOD ENOUGH.”

...for now. 🙃

Love this makeup test that looks like a mugshot of silver screen ⭐️ Lauren Bacall. When working on brand strategies, I like to ask my clients to pick a famous person that best represents their brand—it's a fun way to personify your biz! I chose Lauren Bacall for my brand because of her elegance, wit, and overall badassery. Who would you choose for your business?

This sunny + cool weather we’re having in Austin (aka my favorite weather!) reminds me of this moodboard I created for a current client. We wanted to capture the feeling of an outdoor dinner party with your best friends—relaxed, happy & fun, with a touch of nostalgia.
