Unexpected multifactor authentication request? Maybe your password’s already been stolen.

Your phone displays an unexpected multifactor authentication request. Do you approve it?

The answer should always be no.

An unrequested MFA notification may mean that someone already has your password and is attempting to access your account. Attackers sometimes send repeated prompts, hoping the user will eventually approve one to make the notifications stop.

If this happens:

• Deny the request
• Change the account password immediately
• Report the incident to your IT provider
• Review the account for unfamiliar activity
• Never share an authentication code with someone who contacts you
• Make sure all your employees do the same
