For those of you that don’t know, one of my dearest, kindest, sweetest, most beautiful friends underwent brain surgery a couple weeks ago. While her obnoxiously positive attitude and sense of humor bounced right back, the road to recovery is far from over. There have been some bumps in the road, with the most recent being an Anaplastic Pilocytic Astrocytoma diagnosis. However, in true Emmy fashion, she told me, “don’t cry, it’s not worth it. I’m going to beat this thing and be in history books!”

Now, this “bloom with grace” doodle means more than ever. Right before Emmy went in to surgery, she asked me to write those words—bloom because we grow through what we go through and grace because, well, it’s 2020 and we all need it.
