Penny (and her sister Snoop) were the loves of my life. My soulmates. My best friends. Everyone and I mean everyone (and animals) that ever met Penny, loved this dog, and she them. Instead of wanting to play with other dogs around, Penny was more interested in their humans and if they had sweet treats and pets for her. The sweetest soul, and those eyes…you could just never say no to her. And rightfully so! She went through so much for me. She got me through Snoop’s death, even though you could tell she missed her too. She got me through countless low blood sugars and panic attacks. She got me through this pandemic. She is my whole heart. And my heart truly aches. But I take comfort in knowing we gave her THE most amazing life. and I were so lucky to have such an incredible dog come into our lives. She will forever be missed.

It’s been a heavy week, hell it’s been a heavy year - some ways I’m coping - taking care of my physical and mental health first (vital for my type 1 diabetes) because if I’m not healthy I can’t really help anyone. Secondly, educating myself and having hard conversations with some family and/ or friends. And lastly, figuring out how I can help locally. Invest in Black owned businesses, donate, volunteer, crowd-source. There are so many ways! And if you can’t think of any - message me let’s chat, I’m sure we could figure something out.

At the end of the day this isn’t about me, it’s about what can be done to help our local Black and Brown communities and then expand from there.

So let’s help my friend Quianah reach her goal of $60K, so she can open a greenhouse eatery space here in Atlanta. A space that is Black owned, and a space where Atlanta’s BIPOC community will feel represented and heard, but shared by everyone.

I believe in Quianah’s vision and you should too, she has already done so much for the community and beyond! My last post has all the raffle items listed, go check them out!
