The Paint & Take provides everything you need to paint a miniature at Dragon Con.

Since 2013, the Dragon Con Paint and Take has grown from humble beginnings to over 1,000 members rejuvenating a love of painting miniatures.

For those of you who have never come through Paint & Take before, or you have very little mini painting experience, the process can seem strange! But we have amazing volunteers to help you through every step of the way, and we’re always happy to answer any questions you may have.

6! 6 Days AH AH AH!

While we could never support a 24-hour operation during the con, we pride ourselves on the hours we DO stay open! We’re great for getting away from the crowds and giving you some time to distract from the excitement and overwhelm that can happen to all of us at such a big event.

ONE WEEK 😱

It’s time to answer the age old question for the Paint & Take: ”How much does this cost?”

The short answer is whatever you want it to be. We offer a lot of free mini options, OR if you’re feeling generous and want to donate at least $1 to our charity you’ll get the chance to pull a random ticket for our premium minis!
If you donate $5 or more, you can choose to pull from our DRAGON HOARD and guarantee one of our dragon minis!

Just don’t forget, ALL Paint & Take offerings (including workshop registration) is CASH ONLY! There will be an ATM available in the lobby of Americas Mart 3.

8 days! 🤩

Today we’re answering one of our top questions we get asked leading up to the con: “Where are you located?”

For general Paint & Take, we are located immediately to the left when you enter the gaming hall. When you enter Americas Mart 3, go right through the series of doors on the ground floor. We’ll be right across from gaming registration! There you can participate in the Open Paint, register for one of our workshops or the Speed Paint Competition, or enter your mini to our Golden Dragon painting competition!

If you go upstairs to the 2nd floor, our workshops, Speed Paint Competition, and our awards ceremony all take place in the “pit” area just on the other side of the elevators and escalators.

9 DAYS!!!!
Today’s countdown post is dedicated to a NEW sponsor for this year: Caladrius Games!

T Minus 10 DAYS until Dragon Con 2026!

For every day leading up to the con, we are going to post every day about Paint & Take so you can be prepared and know everything you need to paint with us this year.

First up is another sponsorship highlight: Monument Hobbies! Monument Hobbies provides us with their incredible ProAcryl paints for our intermediate and advanced workshops, and this year we have more goodies from them for prize support. Their supplies are truly top notch, and even our own lead instructor/head judge Chad Woyce uses them regularly for his projects!

If you can believe it, we are just over ONE MONTH away from Dragon Con 2026!!!! I’m shaking with excitement because it’s so hard to wait until you can see all of the amazing minis and workshops we’ve cooked up for you this year.

With the final countdown in full swing, I would love to take this opportunity to highlight one of our incredible sponsors for this year. If you plan to bring in your minis to enter, please be sure to read all rules and guidelines for the categories you plan to enter. If you have any questions or want a pdf version of the rules, send us a DM.
