Day two is in the books for the wrap up!

One of the standout sessions was the Platform Integration panel, featuring Manuel Hermosilla of PAE Mission Systems, Director for Integration, Platform and Weapons, moderated by Timothy Kuehhas, MEM of Scientific Research Corporation.
Great insight into how PAE is closing the seams across acquisition pathways and pulling platform level integration together.

But as always, the real highlight was the people. Quality time with our partners at V2X, Chad Clary and Mike Leshinsky, and a wonderful dinner with friends to close it all out, Angel Salinas, Kevin Martin, and Jennifer Groschen-Draves.

Two full days of connections, insight, and opportunity in San Diego.
Grateful for the sessions, the relationships, and the chance to keep building alongside great partners in this mission. ⚓

A new defense innovation hub is standing up on the Gulf Coast.

The Gulf Coast Defense Catalyst (GCDC) launched in June 2026 as a joint effort among four Navy commands, Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic, U.S. Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command, Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division, and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, to connect warfighter requirements directly with regional startups, established businesses, and academic research.
Headquartered in New Orleans and co-located with NIWC Atlantic at the LSU New Orleans Research and Technology Park, GCDC is built around C5I development, a planned testbed on Lake Pontchartrain, and closing the gap between concept and fielded capability.

Giesler attended the September 2 GCDC Innovation Industry Day to check it out, caught an awesome opening keynote from Dr. Jason McKenna, CNMOC's Chief Technology Officer, and saw firsthand the work Evie Poitevent Sanders and the Greater New Orleans, Inc. – GNO, Inc. and Startup NOLA team put into pulling the day together.
It proved to be the kind of regional, mission-driven collaboration that lines up well with where our C4ISR and cybersecurity work is headed, so this was the right event to attend.

Whether today means relaxing with family, firing up the grill, or just taking a well-earned break - take a minute to remember what the day is actually for.

Labor Day exists because working people fought to be recognized for their contributions.
That's worth pausing on, especially in a field like ours where a lot of the work happens quietly, out of view, and still matters immensely.

To the folks keeping the mission moving today and every day: thank you.

Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific just released a Commercial Solutions Opening for Project Roundtable - a centralized platform to manage industry engagement and cut down on redundant outreach across the enterprise.

It is a small example of a bigger shift.

The Navy is leaning on CSOs and other flexible acquisition pathways to move faster, and the Department of the Navy Rapid Capabilities Office is clearly pushing that pace.
For small businesses paying attention, these compressed timelines reward the teams already tracking requirements closely.

Worth watching how this playbook expands to other domains.

Today, we submitted our formal response to the Department of War's Request for Information on Reforming CMMC and Reducing Compliance Burden for the Defense Industrial Base.

As a WOSB, SDVOSB, and nontraditional defense contractor holding a Top Secret Facility Clearance and CMMC Level 2 Self-Assessment, we have lived the compliance journey firsthand. We know what it costs small businesses to get it right, and we know where the current framework creates friction without improving security outcomes.

We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute directly to the CMMC Reform Task Force's review. The DIB's small business community has a critical voice in this conversation, and we intend to use ours.
