More new illustrations up on my site! This week’s collection is from a series of articles (22/23) for / TD Wealth’s online magazine that covers investing and other concerns in the Canadian Market.

This is about couples weathering economic downturns. Perhaps surprisingly, I’ve always enjoyed working on financial, business, and law articles as they lend themselves to metaphor as the typical imagery associated with such articles—business people, money, etc.—are far too cliché.

Much thanks to

More new work: this is the accompanying to my last post on climate change in action for . These illustrations were made during one of Canada’s worst forest fire years on record with smoke covering a substantial portion of North America. I’m a big fan of the details and flow here thanks to smooth liquefaction effects and texture brushes.

It’s always great to work on subjects that feel personal and these were certainly in my wheelhouse of experience, having camped/canoed amidst falling ash and cautiously planning escape routes.

Thanks again to AD Higginbotham

⚡️NEW WORK! ⚡️ Here is a piece from a while ago I did for the — a paper that I’ve loved working with since very early in my career. I’m always excited to work in editorial as the variety of subjects is so vast and I enjoy the challenge of finding visual solutions that are outside the norm.

The article described the exceedingly slow transition to a low-carbon economy due to to a lack of policy (and now even worse in 2026!). As I’m always keen to explore the outdoors whether in person or illustration. I pitched some ideas and we settled on a concept based on the idiom “up a creek without a paddle”. Here, we have a pair of quintessential Canadians canoeing over a waterfall to illustrate that it may indeed be too late to affect meaningful climate change.

Of note, many of the images used in my collages are taken from 20 years of camping and canoeing trips to areas just like this. Thankfully, I’ve avoided heading over the brink as these two have.

Biggly thanks to Art Director Brennan Higginbotham for the fun job and openness to ideas!

After a bit of a hiatus due to teaching, visas, and life, I’m looking forward to getting back to art.

In a new place with new ideas and hopefully new directions in illustration, design, and now photography.

Stay tuned and let’s see what comes.

Tyre Nicholes. Dante Wright. George Floyd & an estimated 30,800+ deaths by police since 1980 (Lancet 2019) and no sign of stopping. I did this illustration 7 years ago for The Progressive and I could post it weekly, or even daily. If you’re not horrified you’re not paying attention. Police in their current form are seldom the answer and yet their funding is ballooning. Fund social housing, mental health, start Universal Basic Income, make education free and defund the police and end qualified immunity. The status quo cannot and should not continue.
