Here's the part that surprises people who haven't done this before: the cohort starts working before it arrives.

Roughly six weeks out from Pursell Farms, and the Lead NXT room is nearly set.

What happens between now and October is introductions. People look each other up, find the overlap, and start talking. So by the time everybody's actually in Alabama, a fair number of those conversations are already running.

The three days aren't the beginning. They're the compression point.

Which is a genuinely practical argument for deciding sooner rather than later. Come in at the last minute and you'll arrive at day one completely cold, while the person next to you is picking up something they started five weeks ago. You'll still get a lot out of it. You'll get less than they will.

October 12 to 14, Pursell Farms. Small cohort, every seat nominated or reviewed. Nour runs it.

If a room like that has been on your list for this year, this is the useful moment to move on it.

Your reputation isn't what you think it is. It isn't really even yours.

New month, harder question.

August was about five relationships you can see and act on directly. September's about the thing you can't touch at all: what gets said about you when you're not in the room.

Here's what makes it strange. Your reputation doesn't live with you. It lives distributed across a few hundred people's impressions, most of them formed in brief interactions you've completely forgotten, and it operates entirely without your involvement. It opens doors you'll never know were there. It closes ones you'll never know you were standing next to.

Most professional advice treats this as branding, and we think that misses it badly.

Reputation Capital isn't a positioning exercise. You can't write your way into it. It's the accumulated residue of how you've actually behaved, especially when it was inconvenient, and it gets reported by other people in sentences you will never hear.

This month we'll get into how it forms, how far it travels from whoever formed it, why the gap between how you think you're described and how you're actually described is usually wider than anyone expects, and what can genuinely be done about it.

Nour goes live Tuesday, September 15.

To start: what do you think people say about you in that room? And how would you ever find out if you were wrong?

Six weeks out from Pursell Farms, and the room's taking shape.

Something Nour says that we keep coming back to: the best fall usually starts in a summer inbox.

October isn't far. And the people who'll be in that room in six weeks made the call back in July and August, when October still felt theoretical and there was no particular reason to decide anything.

That's the pattern with almost everything that turns out to matter, and it's slightly maddening. The decision that produces it gets made when it doesn't feel urgent. By the time it feels urgent, the window's shut and you're looking at photos.

Lead NXT runs October 12 to 14. Small cohort, every seat nominated or reviewed, and the conversations get past introductions by the end of day one.

Here's a thing worth doing this week. Open your fall calendar and actually look at it.

If it's filling up with things that won't matter to you in a year, that's worth noticing while there's still time to do something about it.

What's on your October that you'll still be glad about next spring?

One thing to keep from this month. Just one.

Four of your five will feel reasonably handled. One won't.

And the instinct at that point is to work on all five a little bit, spread the effort, be thorough about it. Don't. The return is entirely in the thin one. Everything else on your list is already working, and touching it won't move anything.

That's the whole month, honestly. Not a system to adopt or a habit to install. A diagnostic you run once, then act on narrowly.

For the record, the five were the Pivotal Contact, one or two degrees out and one or two levels up. The Dormant Tie, blocked by a prediction about their reaction that's wrong nearly every time. The Internal Bridge, whose network nobody in your building ever thinks to ask about. The Truth Teller, who keeps you off a flattering picture. And the 2 AM Relationship, where the only question that counts is who'd call you.

We've genuinely enjoyed the conversations here over the last four weeks. Several of you sent us your five, which we weren't expecting, and we read every one.

Next month we go somewhere less comfortable: what gets said about you when you're not in the room.

Before then, the thin one. What are you doing about it this week?

Straight answer on early access, because we'd rather be specific than intriguing.

You get the Relationship Map and the contact intelligence around it while we're still shaping how the whole thing works. That's the trade. You get it early and you get us on the phone. We get to build against how you actually work instead of how we imagined you might.

That's it. No waitlist theater, no artificial scarcity, no "join thousands of others."

Who this genuinely fits right now: you're running relationship-driven revenue in professional services, consulting, or B2B where deals start with a warm introduction rather than a form fill.

Who it doesn't: if your pipeline comes mostly from paid acquisition, we're not the right tool for you yet. We'd rather tell you that now than take six weeks of your time proving it.

What to expect: a product that does the core thing genuinely well and is visibly still being built around the edges. We show you where the map's uncertain instead of hiding it. We ship often. When something isn't ready, we say it isn't ready instead of putting it on a roadmap slide and hoping you forget.

If that sounds like the right kind of trade, we'd like to talk.

Does your best revenue arrive through relationships you can't currently see?

The most important conversations about you happen when you're not there.

We've spent August on the relationships you can see and act on. Next month we're going somewhere less comfortable.

Think about where your last real opportunity actually got decided. The room where your name came up and somebody said one sentence about you. The call where a client quietly decided to expand or wind down. The moment a peer got asked "would they be good for this?" and answered in about four words.

You weren't in any of those. And they shaped what happened next far more than anything you said in the meetings you did attend.

That's Reputation Capital, and it behaves completely differently from everything we covered this month.

You don't build it in the conversation. You build it in every interaction before it, and then it goes out and operates without you. Accurately or not. Fairly or not. It opens doors you'll never know were there and closes ones you'll never know you were near.

September's theme is What They Say When You're Not in the Room. How reputation actually forms, how far it travels from whoever formed it, and the gap between how you think you're described and how you're actually described.

Nour goes live on it Tuesday, September 15.

One thing to sit with this week. If somebody asked three people you work with to describe you in a sentence, how confident are you that all three would say roughly the same thing?

So what actually changes when you know your five? Honestly, not much. Not right away.

We'd rather say that plainly than promise you a transformation, because the promise usually attached to work like this is nonsense and you'd know it.

What changes is smaller. It's also more durable.

Your attention stops being purely reactive. Right now, for almost all of us, relationship effort goes wherever the noise is. The person who emailed twice. The account that escalated. The colleague who caught you in the hallway. It feels like relationship building because you're spending the whole day on people.

It's mostly just responding.

Knowing your five gives you a short list that survives a busy week. When the calendar collapses and something has to give, you know which conversations are load-bearing. That's the entire benefit. And it compounds over years in a way that's almost invisible month to month, which is exactly why so few people do it.

The second thing that changes is that you start noticing absence.

Before you name the categories, a missing Truth Teller isn't a problem. It's just the shape of your life. You don't feel it. After you name it, the gap is visible, and visible gaps tend to get closed.

That's what a framework's actually for. Not handing you new relationships. Letting you see the ones you've got, and the ones you don't.

Looking back at your five, what became visible that you hadn't been looking at?

Christian Deveau on the room. His words are on the card.

Something's been sitting with us all month as we worked through these five relationships.

Pursell Farms is one of the very few settings where several of them can form at the same time.

Think about what three days in a small cohort actually does to your odds. You're seated with people one or two steps outside your usual circle, and several of them are positioned exactly where a Pivotal Contact sits. You're with peers who'll tell you the truth precisely because they've got no stake in your company's politics, which is the whole reason internal truth telling is so hard.

And the shared intensity of it occasionally starts something that runs for decades.

You can't manufacture that. Nobody can. But you can put yourself in the room where the odds are dramatically better than they are sitting at your desk hoping.

That's the actual argument for going. Not the sessions. The compression.

Lead NXT, October 12 to 14 at Pursell Farms. Small cohort, every seat nominated or reviewed.

Look at your calendar for the next six months. Where in it are you likely to meet the people who'll matter to you in three years?

Quick correction before we close the month, because we might've implied something we don't actually believe.

The five aren't a fixed roster you assemble once and then maintain.

Reading four weeks of this back, we can see how it might land that way. Name your Pivotal Contact, name your Truth Teller, tick, done, filed. That's not how any of it works, and treating it that way will cost you.

People move through these positions constantly.

The Truth Teller who was invaluable while you were building something becomes less relevant once you're scaling it. Not because they changed. Because what you need changed. A Pivotal Contact for one ambition is just a friendly acquaintance for the next one. And that dormant tie you reopened three weeks ago might be the most active relationship in your working life by spring, then drift quiet again by the following winter. That's normal.

What's fixed is the categories. What moves, constantly, is who's standing in them.

So this isn't an exercise you complete. It's a question you come back to, probably quarterly, and every time the answers will have shifted more than you expected.

The people who do this well aren't the ones with a perfect five.

They're the ones who notice when the five have changed.

When did yours last shift? And did you catch it at the time, or only looking back?

We've spent a month on five relationships. Here's the honest problem with all of it.

Knowing the framework doesn't tell you where you stand.

You can name all five. Understand exactly why each matters. Run the audit we posted Monday, do it properly, feel good about it. And you're still working from memory and impression.

Memory is unreliable about relationships in a very specific way, and it's worth knowing about.

It overrates whoever you saw most recently. Somebody you had coffee with last Tuesday feels close. Somebody you haven't thought about in eight months has effectively been deleted, and they're frequently the one who mattered. Your sense of your own network is basically a recency ranking wearing a trenchcoat.

That's the gap the Relationship Map closes. Not to replace your judgment. To give your judgment something accurate to work with.

Your whole network on one map. Who you know, who they know, who could introduce you to the person you've been circling since spring. The relationships that have gone quiet showing up as quiet instead of just vanishing from your attention. The paths to a target that run through colleagues you'd never have thought to ask.

The five relationships are the framework. The map's how you find out which one's actually thin, instead of which one feels thin.

If you had an accurate picture instead of a remembered one, what do you think would surprise you?
