In this episode of the podcast, we had the privilege of speaking with founder Jeff Mogan about the incredible work search and rescue teams and their dogs perform in some of life’s most difficult moments.
For families facing the uncertainty of a missing loved one, every moment matters. Search and rescue teams bring together compassion, training, technology, and determination to help locate missing persons and provide answers during heartbreaking situations.
Jeff shared how specially trained canine teams work alongside first responders in wilderness, urban, and water recovery searches. These dogs possess extraordinary scent detection abilities that continue to play a critical role in search efforts, even as technology like GPS tracking, sonar imaging, and drones evolve.
What stood out most in our conversation was the human side of this work — the care, empathy, and emotional strength required from volunteers and handlers who serve families during times of crisis. Their mission is rooted in hope, dignity, and helping bring loved ones home whenever possible.
We also discussed the importance of preparedness and prevention, including tools that may help vulnerable individuals such as those living with dementia or autism, as well as boating and outdoor safety awareness.
This episode is shared with deep respect for anyone who has experienced the pain of a missing loved one or drowning-related tragedy. Our hope is that it brings awareness to the people, dogs, and organizations working tirelessly to help others in their darkest hours.
