Baggio Ardon Design

Baggio Ardon Design I am Baggio, an aspiring graphic designer with dreams that are unadvisably ambitious.

The story of this shop and the illustrations I've done is a long one, however, we can sum it up with a mix of an unhealthy obsession over my cultural heritage, a desire to share the stories and voices of people so often unheard, and the drive to use my ability as a designer to create art that can reach every corner of the world. I found that the power of a graphic designer is in their ability to c

ommunicate with innumerable amounts of people. My goal is to have my work be a friendly addition to anyone's collection, giving anyone a taste of Latinx culture wherever they are. It is a reminder of the passionate beauty and color so often overlooked in media.

The Quetzal, whose name in several languages means sacred, precious, beautiful, is a bird with a history of reverence. It is the bird who symbolizes freedom and liberty, who cannot be kept in cages. The feathers were more valuable than gold, worn by the highest nobility and never taken inhumanely. It was once illegal to even harm the bird, given its ties to Quetzalcoatl, and even now we regard it in wonder and mystic. It's said that it once had the most beautiful song, but now stays silent until Guatemala is truly free.
When this print goes up for sale, I want a portion of the proceeds to go to wildlife conversation to help this beautiful bird.
Illustration style was heavily influenced by Georges Barbier and Erté, two artists known for their flamboyant and expensive taste.

Quarantine has prompted a lot of reflection in myself and my brand. As I evolve, so too does my work. And a rebrand begins with a color palette! Earthy Tlaquepaque, after the redware pottery of Jalisco and the talented artisans who make thenñm. Nostalgic Atole, after the maíz blanco that feed and nourish us. Vibrant Tejocote, after the central american fruits the dot the forest. And Prestigious Motagua, after the center of Prehispanic jade artifacts worn by kings.
Those are the values I want to instill in my work. A Natural, Sentimental, Dynamic, and Distinguished view of my cultures.

After listening to a podcast called Wise Traditions discussing indigenous foods, I thought about all the incredible recipes from El Salvador and Guatemala using almost exclusively indigenous ingredients.
And then I got hungry.
So here I am, making sopa de pito, soyrizo con flor de izote, yuca frita, and to top it off arroz con chipilin y loroco.
Westerners got a lot to learn about cooking 👌🏼✨🇸🇻

Aluxo'ob are described as dwarf-like sprites that either help humanity or cause havoc. Dressed in traditional Maya clothing, they are said to live in the forests of Central America and reside in small houses built specifically for them to help look after your land. They also act as the helpers of Yum Ka'ax, god of the wild, protecting the forests and animals that reside there.
Here I've reimagined a 1931 copy of The McCall Fashion Magazine as a tribute not only to the nature sprites, but to environmentalists in Latin America risking and losing their lives to protect the land.
As such, the print will be on tree-free lokta paper and 50% of the proceeds will go to the preservation of the Monarch butterfly.

Prototype of a project I think I might take up on Etsy ✨ After our calligraphy exhibit got set up, me and the docentes started talking the history of writing and the profession of scribes and I mentioned that handlettering is my kryptonite so I stuck with the Mayan script instead.
Annndd they suggested maybe writing names on bookmarks. Annndd I maybe tried it 🤷🏻‍♂️ This one is for
