Reality- Me at night, drawing in the quiet. My kids are in bed, finally asleep. My days have shifted into a very chaotic season. I have no idea how I survived with a 2 year old and a baby twice before. Despite the fact that I’ve done this toddler season multiple times, my youngest has me constantly trying to catch my breath while simultaneously trying to soak it all up. I appreciate the quiet night time moments where I get to feel like I am my own again… all while having immense gratitude for my life and the adventures it has to offer.

Catching my breath for a moment, then off to my own cozy bed.

I hope you did something for yourself today, too 🦋

My adventure in pottery is going well! I’m finally getting the hang of height a bit and feeling way more confident. I am learning so much each time I sit at the wheel. I think the biggest thing I’m learning is that I learn more from my mistakes than from getting it right. It’s been a huge lesson in letting go. More to come!

A little work in progress. I spent 3 hours on this last night and was really happy with how far it came. I used to work exclusively in acrylics, but I’m loving oils! I’ll spend some time today adding detail and contrast.

This Mother’s Day weekend, come paint. 🎨

Picasso Portraits is an evening of painting, playing, and a drink — the Saturday before Mother’s Day. Bring your mom, your girls, your partner, or just yourself.

We’ll kick off with a little Picasso inspiration. Did you know he spent his whole career trying to get back to the freedom of painting like a child? That’s exactly the energy we’re bringing to the canvas. Wonder, joy, and zero judgment.

Paint your date, your best friend, or a self portrait, Picasso style. I’ll be there guiding you every step of the way, keeping it fun, keeping it loose, and maybe making you laugh a little along the way.

No experience necessary. Just show up and play.
Saturday, May 9 · 4–6pm · Tailwater Lodge
Presale tickets available until April 30.
Single $45 · Pair $75 · Group of 4+ $35pp

This quote came up recently, and it made me reflect on my own practices. I spend a lot of time and energy on improvement, in all areas of my life. I get so focused on the final product or outcome that I forget to slow down and find joy in it all. This comes into play with how I look at the world too. Over the next month or so I’ll be exploring how to integrate joy, play, and wonder into my art practice and life.

More to come!

I set out on a pottery journey a month or two ago. Today was my first day at the wheel outside of a class environment, and things are starting to flow. It is absolutely a lot harder than it looks. It’s been an exercise in patience and letting go of perfection. I’m learning a lot about myself in ways that I’ve begun to carry over into other mediums too.

Shout out to Jessie at Bridge Street Makers in Pulaski for all the guidance. She’s a fantastic teacher and guide. I highly recommend taking a class with her!
