We’re designing an English country manor for a client in Tennessee, Arts & Crafts in spirit: limewashed brick with the old brick bleeding through, chocolate board-and-batten, slate roofs, copper, and clustered chimney pots.

Out back: a pool terrace, a covered outdoor kitchen with a wood-fired oven, and a guest suite above it.

Two directions for each side. Which would you build?
