There is still a market for rather boring-looking, but still valuable Windows ultrabooks. One of 2014's best was the Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook Touch. They added on a touchscreen display and a new Haswell processor to the already very solid XPS 13 Ultrabook, making it the best 13-inch ultrabook next to the Acer Aspire S7. While the design couldn't quite compete with the Aspire S7, the overall performance, touch screen, and impressive battery life made the XPS 13 Ultrabook Touch worthy of a spot on the list.

Part of LG's line of Super UHD LCD TVs, the LG 65SK9500 is the smartest TV we've ever reviewed. LG's ThinQ AI is the best voice assistant around, combining LG's proprietary content search and Google Assistant for broader voice functionality. It's like having a Google Home without ever setting up a smart speaker. Amazon users are also invited to the party, with full compatibility for Amazon Alexa devices.

And there's more to the LG 65SK9500 than just smarts, with features like Dolby Vision support, Dolby Atmos audio and short lag times for excellent gaming performance. The 4K display boasts a 120-Hz refresh rate and uses LG's Nano Cell technology for improved color accuracy and black levels. From smart functions to picture quality, it's one of the best LCD TVs we've seen.

The HP Stream is far from a perfect laptop, but it gives some promising hints that Microsoft is willing to work with OEMs to give Chromebooks a true run for their money. While the HP Stream can’t always compete with refreshing minimalism of Chrome OS, the HP Stream 13 has a full 1080p HD display, a nice simple design, some decent battery life, and runs full Windows 8.1. There are plenty of reasons to choose this affordable Windows laptop over a Chromebook and it just might be the best budget laptop to ever run Windows.

While 65-inch TVs may be the common size today, bigger TVs are more popular than ever. The Sony X690E 70-inch TV steps you up to a larger size without an equally outsize price, making it our favorite bigger TV. Sony outfits the X690E with a smart stand and so-so feature set, but we were impressed by the decent viewing angles and deft handling of darker images. A pair of 10-watt speakers offers strong volume and pretty good sound quality. You will contend with a mediocre smart TV experience, though, as Sony uses Opera TV here instead of the Android TV offered on most Sony sets. But with a screen that's more than 5 feet wide on this TV, what you're really paying for is size.

If you’re in the market for a unique fridge, the Samsung 4-Door Flex Fridge offers a full compartment that can be either a freezer or warmed up for more fresh food storage. It’s sort of like the Kenmore’s temp-adjustable drawer, but more versatile. It’s both bigger and offers a larger temperature swing.

If you want it to be an ice cream holder, one of the four settings is for a soft freeze. The drawback is that the because the bottom of the fridge is split in half, you can’t store large frozen pizzas in it — the individual compartments just aren’t wide or tall enough.

The Power-Cool feature is very handy if you need to quickly cool down that six pack before the game. There’s also a similar Power-Freeze tool for the freezer. Both of these can be selected on the front touchscreen panel.

As for the design, overall, the Samsung model is a bit shallower than full-sized models. Thankfully, the middle shelves can be repositioned for greater flexibility. Three gallon-sized bins are positioned on the right door to keep bulkier items to the side. The shelf in the middle can be lowered or raised as needed.

It does have 22.5 cubic feet of capacity, it’s 36 inches wide, and costs about $2,500, so it’s meant for a very specific market, but the flex-door option is definitely a quirky feature that actually has value.

Samsung's 65-inch Q9FN QLED TV is packed with premium touches, from the quantum-dot display to the polished smart-TV experience. The excellent display boasts the superior brightness of LCD and black levels that give OLED displays a run for their money, and Samsung backs it up with the Bixby voice assistant and superb built-in sound.

The Q9FN QLED TV offers strong HDR performance and support for most major formats (well, everything but Dolby Vision), along with killer backlight with full-array local-dimming and proprietary anti-blooming technology. And while this set looks good on the included stand, it's even better up on the wall, where the included One Connect Box and nearly invisible single-cable connection virtually eliminate the tangle of cables that come with most TVs.
