The magic of cinema comes alive once again on the Croisette in Cannes! 🎬🌍✨

Today marks the opening of the 77th annual Festival de Cannes! This year, the festival's jury president is none other than Greta Gerwig, director of the blockbuster Barbie and the first female director in cinema history to surpass $1 billion in box office revenue.

Among the most anticipated films in the main competition program of the festival are David Cronenberg's ""The Shrouds,"" Francis Ford Coppola's ""Megalopolis,"" Yorgos Lanthimos's ""Kinds of Kindness,"" and Paolo Sorrentino's ""Parthenope.""

A controversial premiere at the festival will be the film ""The Invasion"" by Ukrainian director of Belarusian descent, Sergei Loznitsa, about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Despite his exclusion from the Ukrainian Film Academy (Українська Кіноакадемія) for his statements in favour of Russian culture and condemnation of its boycott in Ukraine in 2022, the global film community, including the Cannes audience, perceives Loznitsa as a supporter of Ukrainian independence and one of the ambassadors of Ukraine's fight for freedom on the world cultural stage.

His documentary ""Maidan,"" which explores and follows the protests and violence in Kyiv in 2013-2014, premiered in Cannes in 2014 and received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics. Thus, Despite the controversies surrounding the film, Loznitsa's work continues to spark important conversations and draw attention to Ukraine's fight for independence.

We are also anticipating the updates from the Ukrainian pavilion, where there'll be showcasing projects from Ukrainian films at the Cannes Marché du Film. Let's continue to shine bright and showcase Ukrainian talent on the world stage! 🎬🌍

""In Her Car"" is more than just a series; it's also a powerful war drama that tells the gripping story of Ukrainian therapist Lydia, who bravely navigates through danger to transport civilians to safety. 🚗💥

We proudly celebrate this success with our partners – ""In Her Car"" was produced by Starlight Media and Gaumont in co-production with ZDFneo, France Télévisions, SRF Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen in association with The Dreaming Sheep Company, SVT, DR, NRK, RUV, YLE. Beta Film handles international distribution.

With three Ukrainian directors at the helm and teams behind the scenes, our country continues to solidify its position as a global creative powerhouse.
