"Tanzania's newsrooms stand at a pivotal moment. The willingness exists, the infrastructure is nascent, and the skills are wanting. Whether journalism can bridge this gap will determine if AI becomes its greatest ally or most profound challenge," - Deusdedith Muzinza Kakorozya

"When I joined Nukta Africa as a resident under Nukta Lab Graduate Residency Program, I expected to learn story reporting. What I didn’t expect was to discover how workplace culture can shape not only professional growth but confidence, creativity, and purpose. In many organizations, culture is described in mission statements. At Nukta Africa, I experience it in everyday interactions,"- Method Allen, Nukta Lab Graduate Residency Program resident.

Empowering journalists with the tools to protect truth is one of the most effective ways to strengthen climate resilience and safeguard indigenous communities.

To strengthen climate information integrity, Nukta Africa, in collaboration with the Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI) and International Media Support (IMS), conducted a two-day training on Countering Climate Misinformation and Misleading Narratives Affecting Indigenous Peoples in Tanzania.

Facilitated by Nukta Africa's senior trainers, Daniel Mwingira and Daniel Samson, the training equipped journalists and editors from Orkonerei FM Radio and Media Aid for Indigenous and Pastoralist Community (MAIPAC) with practical skills in fact-checking, verification and ethical reporting.

Participants are now better prepared to:
✅ Identify and counter climate misinformation.
✅ Produce accurate, evidence-based stories that amplify indigenous voices.
✅ Promote environmental awareness while respecting indigenous knowledge, rights, and cultures.
✅ Strengthen public trust through credible journalism.

By investing in local journalists, the training contributes to a more informed and resilient information ecosystem where climate conversations related indigenous people are guided by facts, not falsehoods.

Investing in journalists is investing in a more credible, secure, and trusted media ecosystem.

On June 26, 2026, Nukta Africa, in collaboration with the Media Council of Tanzania (MCT), conducted a Digital Security for Journalists and Building a Trusted Online Media training for Jambo TV journalists and editors.

The training aimed at strengthening participants' knowledge and practical skills in digital security, fact-checking, ethical journalism, audience engagement, and compliance with professional standards.

As Jambo TV resumed its operations following the 90-day suspension, we are confident that the knowledge and practical skills acquired during this training will contribute to strengthening the newsroom and building public trust through credible and responsible journalism.

At Nukta Africa, we remain committed to supporting media organizations and journalists with the knowledge, tools, and capacity needed to foster a safe, resilient, and trusted information ecosystem.

We thank MCT for the continued collaboration and Jambo TV's journalists and editors for their commitment to professional excellence.

NUKTA LAB GRADUATE RESIDENCY PROGRAM KICKED OFF

More than 200 young graduates applied. Only three earned a place.

The 2026 Nukta Lab Graduate Residency Program has officially kicked off, welcoming three outstanding young professionals who successfully navigated a competitive recruitment process that included written assessments, oral interviews, and evaluations of their technical skills, attitude, teamwork, and willingness to learn.

Meet our first cohort:
🔹 Deusdedith Kakorozya – Learning Officer, Communication
🔹 Jonas Remmy – Multimedia Creative Designer
🔹 Method Allen – Data Journalist

Over the six months, they will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in journalism, communication, multimedia production, and data storytelling while building the practical skills needed to thrive in today's employment market.

As Tanzania continues to produce thousands of university graduates every year, initiatives like the Nukta Lab Graduate Residency Program are helping bridge the gap between academic knowledge and workplace experience through mentorship, collaboration, and real-world learning.

We wish our residents every success as they embark on this exciting journey of growth, innovation, and professional development.
