International ICT Volunteers or IIV is a multi-‐stakeholders international platform for mobilizing and dispatching volunteers in countries in the Asia-‐Pacific region to promote ICT development and uptake. IIV was initiated by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the National Information Society Agency (NIA), Government of the Republic of Korea. The IIV was formally announced at t
he ITU Connect Asia-‐Pacific Summit held in Bangkok, Thailand, on 18th November 2013. Since 2012, ITU and NIA have jointly dispatched over 200 Korean volunteers to about some 10 countries in the Asia-‐Pacific region (e.g. Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos PDR, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Viet Nam). The volunteers worked in close collaboration with host organisations including governments, NGOs, and local communities. They focused on such key areas as ICT training, software and content development, IT promotion, and cultural exchange.
