The “Urban Sketchers Thailand” and “Bangkok Sketchers” Group are comprised of people who have the passion in outdoor sketching. This is a group of diverse people from various backgrounds and ages - from professional Artists to just ordinary people who enjoys the Art of Sketching. The group was established in 2010, hence our participating participants have continuously grown both in Bangkok and up
country. The group is linked to the “Urban Sketchers Group”, in which has a worldwide network of sketchers across the globe. We, as a group, plan to organize the ASIA-LINK Sketchwalk Bangkok 2016 Event, during 24th -27th November 2016. The Objectives are:
1) To encourage cultural exchange among participants during the sketchwalk activities, which will be held in Bangkok with emphasis on the old historical areas.
2) To build and strengthen a good relationship between participants in Asia and other participating countries.
3) To support sketching activities in Thailand and the Asian region.
4) To create awareness of the value of the old communities in Bangkok to the people who live in the target locations.
5) To catalogue the picture of the city , as we see it as a 2016 time capsule. In the past, there have been four similar sketch activities as such, held continuously within ASEAN countries, in which Bangkok was among one of them in 2013. There have also been six larger International events organized on a more Global scale. This year we estimate 350 participants, of which 90% are participants from ASEAN countries and the rest from beyond. We anticipate that this event will set a standard for future events that will be held in other provinces of Thailand and other countries in Asia. This event is 4 days at the Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center (RCAC), Ratchadamnoen raod and C asean center, 10th floor, Cyber World Tower, Ratchadapisek road
Event Expectations: To create harmonious relationships and understanding among participating sketchers from various countries in a way that, together we could continuously explore/exchange art and culture among participants and embrace the diversity through sketching.
