‼️BREAKING: Lakes Caretaker Governor travels from Juba to Rumbek to address clan violence.

Lakes Caretaker Governor Brig. Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor departed for Rumbek from Juba on Saturday after this new eruption of inter-clan fighting in the state capital.

Authorities informed from Rumbek state that fighting was ongoing and security was sent to the area to bring the situation under control. The new fighting has now also left authorities unable to release firm figures on the number of casualties, if any.

Apparently Tuenys relocation to Rumbek follows his statement regarding the need for his administration to ensure security and promote peace in Lakes ahead of the elections scheduled in December this year as ordered by President Salva Kiir.

BREAKING NEWS: Hon. Abak Yel Madoot Reaffirms Bid for Warrap Governorship.

Hon. Abak Yel Madoot, a member of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) from Tonj North County, has once again confirmed her intention to contest for the position of Governor of Warrap State.

According to information surrounding her planned candidacy, Hon. Abak Yel Madoot is expected to obtain and complete the official gubernatorial candidacy form on Friday, October 9, 2026, as part of the required recruitment and nomination process.

She is also expected to formally declare her intention to contest the governorship before members of the media, providing an opportunity to outline her political vision, priorities and proposed programme for the people of Warrap State.

Her declaration comes as political discussions continue to gain momentum ahead of the anticipated selection and nomination processes within the SPLM.

If the process proceeds as expected, Friday’s declaration could mark the formal beginning of her campaign for the governorship of Warrap State.

Declaration of Marco Agor Malang Bid for the Gubernatorial Seat of Warrap State

Dear People of Warrap State and Comrades,

Allow me to take this opportunity to thank all my supporters, wherever you are across all regions of South Sudan and in the diaspora, for your patience, trust, and confidence in me as you eagerly awaited my decision regarding the political affairs of Warrap State.

Therefore, I would like to officially declare that I am contesting for the gubernatorial seat of Warrap State. I want to assure you that I am not seeking this position merely for the sake of holding office, but rather to serve and protect our people and to work toward achieving lasting peace throughout Warrap State and its neighbouring states.

Today, I went to the SPLM General Secretariat, where I collected my nomination form to contest for the gubernatorial position of Warrap State.

Due to time constraints, I completed and submitted the form on the same day to avoid any delays, as we are running out of time. A media press conference will be announced soon, as we prepare to return home for the rally and selection process.

I seek the authority to lead the people of Warrap State by example, with a commitment to improving security, promoting equal opportunities, and advancing development for everyone, especially our youth, elderly people, and women.

Together, we can build a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Warrap State where every citizen has an equal opportunity to contribute and benefit from development.

Lack of Latrines Forced Warrap Schoolgirl to Miss Classes

Some girls miss school because of school fees. For Aluet, a pupil at Majak-Pagai Primary School in Warrap State, the challenge was the lack of a safe and private latrine.

With pupils forced to use the bush, Aluet and other girls faced fear, shame and difficulties managing their menstrual periods, forcing her to stay home and miss lessons.

Today, the situation has changed. A new latrine block with nearby clean water has been constructed at the school through the Enhancing Community Resilience and Local Governance Project Phase II (ECRP II), benefiting Aluet and 758 other pupils.

The project is government-led, funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Finance and Planning and the Local Government Board, in partnership with World Vision.

“I feel more confident and can focus on my education,” Aluet said.

Every girl deserves the dignity, safety and facilities needed to stay in school and learn.
