What is Demobit? Demobit is a sentimental Slovak demoscene event with more than 20 years tradition taking a place in Bratislava and Nitra. The demoscene represents an international computer art subculture that specializes in producing demos: small, self-contained computer programs that produce audio-visual presentations. The main goal of a demo is to show off programming, artistic, and musical skills. History of Demobit
The life of Demobit begun in 1993. The first and second Demobit was organized by a group of enthusiastic students (Zden, Skywalker, Tina) at Bratislava highschool. The third and the biggest Demobit party was held in Bratislava's PKO with more than one thousand attendees sponsored by the first Slovak computer and software companies (e.g. Why did we resurrect to organize Demobit 2017? Now, the first Demobit organizers and participants are 20 years older, full of nostalgic memories, have decided Demobit to bring to the life and organized a special resurrected version of Demobit. We are also restoring all our forgotten friendships and contacts asking for their invaluable help. Demobit compositions. As the other world demo parties, Demobit will also have a lot of demos compositions and many parties. PC demo section consists of 4k, 8k, 64k, Mobile platform, Demo category. With a sad heart and tears in our eyes, we want to let you know that the guest artist and creator of the artwork in the "Artist Jury Award" competition, Erik Binder, passed away last week. His artistic spirit unforgettably fit into the overall atmosphere and made it even more special. In the photos, we can remember his unique persona at the event, when he also unexpectedly contributed to the Wild Competition. We will miss you very much, Erik. In our hearts forever. 🖤

Our fellow demoscene visitor from Ukraine established a VolunteerUA NGO organization to support UA's army with humanitarian aid and field intelligence systems to protect citizens from more casualties. All funds will be used for non-military equipment. Other demosceners who you could meet at Demobit as visitors or even as co-organizers are helping out in this matter. Please, consider donating and help our friend from Ukraine in the mission to save his country from ocupantZ and defend our freedom in Europe. Please, visit https://volunteerua.org/demo for more info and support options. Thank you.

Remember that almost a year ago, we announced our 'GLiTCH' art festival project? Well, the global COVID-19 pandemic also influenced our planning activities. The prospects are still looking bad regarding safety, maximum group size, or travel restrictions to organize any festival. To make sure we informed everyone interested and hasn't read our message on Pouet already: we will NOT organize GLiTCH in October this year. We will also NOT organize an online replacement event as that would not meet the intentions we had with this festival.

As 2021 is getting closer, we will keep our minds on how to proceed with our GLiTCH or Demobit plans in the future. But let's first focus that it is soon safe again for all our friends and former visitors to live everyday lives. We will let you know ASAP when there are new Demobit party or GLiTCH festival plans.

Stay healthy!

No Demobit in February 2020 (...but...)

Last few months we got asked several times whether a Demobit 2020 will take place and before any more of you start to make party and travel plans for early 2020, we hereby publicly announce that Demobit 2020 will _NOT_ take place in February.

After organising three successful editions of Demobit in 2017, 2018 and 2019 with growing ambitions and improvements, we decided to take a break and have more family time during the Christmas holidays and also to use this extra time to reestablish some new organisation and new ideas for future editions of Demobit.

One of these new ideas concerns Demobit 2020. We recently spoke with several representatives of creative subcultures here in Bratislava to combine our interests and organise a festival together. This is a one-off idea to still organise a Demobit event in 2020, albeit planned to be fewer and cross-subculture demoscene competitions and make it more like a creative festival with also a focus on synth-wave music acts, comics culture, retro/indie gaming, etc. It is all still early plans and in the works but as soon as these plans for October 2020 are more crystalized, we shall post more announcements concerning a final date, location, details about the festival, competitions and all other cool stuff.

So hopefully, see you in October!

Newsflash! The biggest highlight from Revision 2019. The Black Lotus made it again, but this time on Amiga 500! Watch the finest piece of digital art you can run in real-time on this iconic computer (two floppies required ;).
