Ep 16: Mobile responsiveness

Ever come across a site that has overlapping buttons or looks malformed on your phone? Chances are that site is not configured to be responsive.

When a visitor sees a malformed site, it’s a immediate turn off & you lose a lead. In some cases, the site is still usable, with a very poor user experience.

This video provides you, as a site owner, to have a quick and easy way to check if your site is responsive in different devices.

Ep 15: Over-engineering your website

“Do it once, do it right.” Sounds smart. But cramming every feature into your website can actually hurt your business more than it helps.

The thing is... you don’t need a website that does everything. You need one that converts. A site that looks good but does nothing for the business is just wasted money.

The real win is the balance. A clean, fancy-looking site with just the right amount of info, still does the job of turning visitors into customers.

Ep 14: The Truth About Website Prices

Thinking of getting a website? Here’s something most people don’t know.

Platforms like Shopify, Wix and Squarespace make it easy to get started, but you’re essentially renting your website. The platform controls the ecosystem, and in most cases, you don’t actually receive the full source files of your site.

That’s why many agencies and developers prefer WordPress. It’s open-source, highly flexible, and gives you far more control over your own website.

The best part? A properly built WordPress site doesn’t mean you need to be technical. With the right setup, you can easily update text, images, products and pages yourself without touching a single line of code.

Before choosing the cheapest quote or the most popular platform, make sure you understand what you’re actually paying for.

Ep 13: Contact Form Basics

Fundamentals of contact forms is to ensure that it works. You’ll be surprised, some websites have a form that doesn’t even work!

Next is to ensure that the form is not overwhelming the user. Are you asking too many questions? Is there too many fields? If it takes more than a minute to finish your form, you might want to strip it down.

Lastly, is to ensure to leave a notice for success
A shorter, clearer form usually means more enquiries and fewer abandoned submissions.

Ep 12: Templates, custom website, or just an excel sheet?

There’s so many options out there. Custom websites, internal tools, portals, CRMs, landing pages & more.

And when you’re flooded with choices, it’s easy to get stuck. A lot of business owners feel like they need ONE thing that does everything. It has to have it all. It has to be the best.

But wanting everything at once is exactly where it gets messy. Workflows, business logic, nice UI/UX, customer view, employee view, and a whole pile of “good to have” features.

Then come the project delays. The fees pile up. And when it finally launches? Customers don’t care for it. Employees don’t want to use it. Turns out what you thought you needed was mostly fluff.

What most new businesses actually need is one simple thing: a website to show off your offerings and services. That’s it.

Then as you grow, pay attention to your real pain points across months of daily work. THAT’S when custom makes sense, building something around problems you actually have.

Ep 11: Over-engineering or keep it simple?

Your website might be turning people off before they even reach out.

There’s a fine line between a over-complicated website and a overly simple one. Keep your business core information and offerings on the site; but don’t over-share and over-explain. Some things are better explained over a call, or even better, face to face.

A few tips. Keep form feilds short, put your contact form somewhere obvious, and don’t make people hunt for your contact information.

Ep 10: Fancy website, but not converting?

Looks matter. A good-looking website builds trust, and an ugly one turns customers away before they even read a word.

But here’s the mistake I see all the time. The website looks amazing, but I can’t find what I actually came for. The important stuff is buried three pages deep. Or I’m hunting for a price and the only way to get it is filling out a 10 field form.

Pretty doesn’t mean it works. If people can’t find what they need fast, they leave.

Ep 9: Is your website actually costing you customers?

Most small businesses think that more = better. More animations, more pages, every single thing that your business has ever done, all crammed into a single site. That’s where things goes wrong. All that bloat slows your site, and a slow site will silently kill sales without you knowing.

Your business’s website isn’t a brochure of everything you do, it’s a place where your customers can quickly know what you do and why should they engage you for what you do.

Once you got that running, you’re settled.

Ep 8. Handover Documents

Many freelancers or even agencies get the job done and call it a day. They may even send you some documents containing some passwords and access. But it is important that you check the login access and privileges yourself.

Make sure that at minimum, you have the administrator account to your web host so that from there, you are able to reset any other passwords and you are able to change hosts if you need.

More often than not, I’ve met clients that are not able to provide the admin access to their websites or even hosting panels because the agency did not hand it over to them. This is very risky in the long run, especially if they stop responding.

Here at Augenblick, we make sure handover is done right, with full access given to our clients upon completion of the project.
