Are you familiar with the concept of carbon trading? It’s similar to stock trading, where carbon credits are bought and sold within carbon markets.
But how does it work?
There are two main types of carbon markets: compliance and voluntary markets. Compliance markets are established in response to regulatory requirement. Voluntary markets involve the issuance, purchase, and sale of carbon credits on a voluntary basis.
Carbon credits are generated by private entities or governments that implement programs certified by carbon standards to reduce emissions or remove carbon from the atmosphere.
In Singapore, you can purchase carbon credits through Climate Impact X on SGX and subsequently, through the carbon exchange or the project marketplace.
