Partnerships grow, so do people.
Kalle Malmiala's path at Etteplan started in project management in Lahti, then moved into an Area Manager role in Hämeenlinna. Today he works as Department Manager in Etteplan's newly established Defence Competence Centre, built to deepen Etteplan's growing partnership with Patria and support its vehicle engineering and documentation. Kalle splits his time between hiring, leading, and developing the mechanical engineering team.
For Kalle, it's the shared commitment with Patria that makes the work meaningful. "With Patria, it's more of a partnership than anything else. We're just one team," he says. What drives him most is simple: when a customer shares a challenge, and his team gets to solve it.
He pays close attention to working hours and recovery time, both his own and his team’s. He's quick to step in if he notices someone's days stretching too long, the same way his own managers have done for him.
That's what a growing Defence Competence Centre looks like in practice. Deep in-house expertise, strong onboarding, and a team that genuinely has each other's backs.
