How is code commenting for you? 👩‍💻 👨‍💻
Is it something you grew used to? Or is it something you dread and do only when absolutely necessary?
Let us know in the comments below!

We see comments as clarifications. They're important for the future developers who will read that code. Anything that the code doesn't say by itself, we like to write down.

Also, we like short summaries of methods. That way, we can determine a method's purpose without reading a looong block of code.

Furthermore, we know it's good practice to explain system designs and business flows in external documentation. This leaves the code comments with the single purpose of explaining how the code methods and classes should be used. And external documentation is preferably read before changing code in the system.

Software projects are never finished.

After going live, the development process doesn’t end. Here’s why:
Real users often generate crashes that don’t come up while testing.
Real users may find elements of your design confusing.

Business requirements may change after receiving user feedback.
So for your app to be truly helpful, you need constant development. For bugs and crashes as well as new features.

In conclusion, it is healthier to shift our expectation regarding software projects. Think of them as a long-term business. Software projects need to adapt to survive. They are never done. But they’re ever growing.

One week after vacation is over, and you already wish to leave work again. You are definetely stressed out.

We rest in long holidays only to find the same stressful experience at home.

But how do we find ways of resting while at home? What are the small things we can do on a daily basis? How do we keep ourselves motivated and rested when projects come near their deadlines?

Squeeze in some time for yourself. Get outside for 5 minutes. Watch the cars or the bees. A 10 minute uninterrupted journaling session can be as healthy for you as a therapy session. Joy is in the small things. So avoid postponing it for the big holidays.

What makes a productive day?

📖 Oliver Burkerman addressed this question beautifully in his book, "Four Thousand weeks". It's a book about how we can make the most of our limited time alive. We'll let you guys do the math on how many years are in 4000 weeks. 😏

🧠 Oliver proposed a definition for a productive day. The 3:3:3 method. An anchor to look at when days are busier than usual. It takes into account that our biological capacity for deep focused work is at 3-4 hours per day.

🏖 Imagine you're working in a foreign country while remotely based in Romania.
Now let's dive into the tax aspect of this situation: Where do you need to pay your taxes?

1️⃣ First, it's important to determine your fiscal home. It might not be the same as your home address in your passport. In Romania, the fiscal home is defined as the country where you reside for more than six months in a year.

🏚 If Romania is your fiscal home, we can determine where your taxes should be paid based on the following rule, which considers the source of your income.
If your income comes from working as an employee abroad and is paid by a non-resident employer, you won't have to pay taxes on this income in Romania.
So, you're free from any fiscal declarations.

💰 If your income comes from independent activities and copyrights outside of Romania, you are required to submit a fiscal declaration of your income and taxes to the National Agency for Fiscal Administration in Romania.

📃 In other words, if you earn money from sources like freelancing or intellectual property rights, and these earnings are generated outside of Romania, you have the responsibility to declare your income and pay taxes on it to the Romanian tax authorities. This can be done by submitting a fiscal declaration form to the National Agency for Fiscal Administration.

What are the most popular backend frameworks in 2023?

😃 Here's the overview on the top 8. It's interesting to see that Spring comes first with twice as many Github Repositories as Django has. Spring has around 1,250,000 and Django around 600,000.

🆕 We also observed how the newer frameworks have an almost equal spread around Github Repositories, with around 100,000 repositories each.
