Stop tracking your employees' working hours - track their impact instead.

Every person on your team was hired for a reason. They're there to solve problems, create solutions, and move your startup forward - not simply to clock hours at a desk.

Here’s how to lead effectively without micromanaging:

1. Define clear outcomes: set actionable goals with realistic deadlines.
2. Empower your team: regularly check in to ensure they have the required resources.
3. Stay accessible: ensure everyone knows you're available when support is required.
4. Trust and step back: give them space and autonomy to deliver their best work.

If you find it difficult to trust your team's self-management, you might have bigger problems - that’s exactly what probation periods are for.

If you're looking for more insights on managing your startup effectively, drop us a message.

As your startup grows, customer needs evolve and understanding these changes can be your strongest competitive advantage.

Atul Shinghal, CEO & Co-Founder of Scripbox, faced exactly this scenario.

Initially focused on simplifying insurance and digital banking in India, Atul soon realized success wasn't just about solving an initial problem - it required continuously adapting to customer growth.

He emphasizes going back to basics regularly, asking one critical question: "What do customers want next?"

This approach led Scripbox to introduce tailored financial solutions like short-term investments, tax-saving products, and emergency funds, each perfectly aligned with evolving customer needs.

Atul sums this mindset up perfectly: "Dil Mange More," or "the heart wants more," highlighting the importance of staying responsive to your customers' growing expectations.

Today, Scripbox stands as India's leading digital wealth management platform, raising $34M+ and ranked second globally in fintech influence by LinkedIn.

Watch the video below to hear Atul explain how constantly evolving your product with customer feedback can unlock sustained growth.

Startups rarely fail due to a lack of innovation. More often, they struggle because their products simply aren't user-friendly.

Samanta, one of our experienced Product Managers at Altar.io, sees it every day: a great idea isn't enough if users face friction when interacting with your product. Slow load times, confusing navigation, or a clunky onboarding experience can quickly drive users away—and 88% won't come back after a bad experience.

In today's fiercely competitive market, a seamless, intuitive UX isn't optional; it's essential. Great UX builds trust, reduces churn, and turns casual users into loyal customers.

Want to understand what makes UX exceptional and how your startup can continuously improve it?

Then check out Samanta's article in full here: https://altar.io/why-ux-is-more-important-than-ever-for-startup-products/?utm_source=Altar+Facebook+Profile&utm_medium=Organic+Social&utm_campaign=Altar+Facebook+Profile+-++Why+UX+is+More+Important+Than+Ever+For+Startup+Products

Startups fail because their products are frustrating to use. Simple ideas can thrive simply by getting one thing right: User Experience (UX).

Portugal Leads the EU in Female Entrepreneurial Spirit!

Mastercard’s latest study just ranked Portuguese women entrepreneurs #1 in the EU, with 56% identifying as entrepreneurs - a major leap ahead of the 40% European average.

Why? The next generation of female founders is driven by financial independence, work-life balance, and a desire to make a real impact.

Gen X women (63%) are leading the charge, followed closely by millennials (60%) - but even Gen Z (54%) is proving that entrepreneurship isn’t just a career choice, it’s a mindset.

In which sectors are they launching businesses?

– Education (15%)
– E-commerce (14%)
– Hospitality & leisure (12%)

Yet, despite this progress, women are still 4x less likely than men to enter tech & IT - a gap we need to close.

As entrepreneurs, investors, and ecosystem builders, how do we ensure more women gain access to funding, networks, and opportunities in high-growth sectors?

Let’s celebrate this milestone - but also push for more!

Starting a company from a dorm room might sound cliché, but Slater's journey with Indico Data shows there's much more to it than late-night pizza and coffee-fueled coding sessions.

In the early days, Slater didn't even set out to build a "company."

Indico started as an ambitious side project - winning Kaggle competitions and tackling small contracts.

It wasn't until they set a challenge to earn just $1,000 in two weeks (and doubled it) that things got real.

Suddenly, Slater found himself facing the choice every founder dreams (and fears): to go all-in or keep it safe.

His key insight?

Validate your idea through real customer demand, not assumptions.

Slater's journey highlights the importance of incremental validation and being open to opportunities - even if they're unexpected.

Check out the video to hear Slater's candid reflections on balancing education, entrepreneurship, and the unpredictable road to scaling Indico Data to a $30M valuation.

Your tech co-founder just walked out.

Panic sets in, right? Not so fast.

Losing your tech co-founder is undeniably tough - but it's also a powerful opportunity to reassess, recalibrate, and potentially come out stronger.

Filipe, our Entrepreneur in Residence at Altar.io, has faced this challenge firsthand.

When his startup's tech co-founder left for a higher-paying role, it forced Filipe to pivot strategically.

Instead of seeing this setback as a deal-breaker, he turned it into a critical turning point, discovering new ways to execute his tech vision - whether through strategic hires, fractional CTOs, or even leveraging no-code solutions.

So, what should you do if you're suddenly left without a technical co-founder?

First, don't rush. Take time to understand exactly what skills and roles your startup really needs.

Next, build a robust technical network - you never know who could become your next great hire or collaborator.

Lastly, choose the ex*****on path that aligns best with your immediate goals and long-term vision.

Jamie, our Head of Content, dives deeper into practical strategies and inspiring stories, like Airbnb and Stripe, who faced similar setbacks but emerged stronger.

Ready to turn your challenge into an opportunity? Read the full guide here: https://altar.io/how-to-navigate-losing-your-tech-co-founder/?utm_source=Altar+Facebook+Profile&utm_medium=Organic+Social&utm_campaign=Altar+Facebook+Profile+-++How+to+Navigate+Losing+Your+Tech+Co-Founder

Losing a tech co-founder isn’t the end. In fact, some of the most successful startups have faced this exact moment and emerged stronger.

Networking isn't just handing out business cards - it's about nurturing genuine relationships with like-minded people who share your vision.

That's exactly what Roger Van Duinen, co-founder of unicorn startup Varo Money, did to great effect.

Roger didn't stumble into a unicorn startup by accident.

His extensive network, built intentionally over years, connected him with Colin Walsh, his future co-founder.

Together, they built Varo Bank, now valued at $2.5 billion after raising an impressive $510M in their Series E.

This podcast episode is packed with valuable insights spanning the entire startup journey, from Series A through Series E.

If you're not convinced yet, check out what our host Rui had to say about his insightful conversation with Roger.

If you're considering working with a software agency, don't underestimate the value of a solid Request for Proposal (RFP), it’s a game-changer.

A clear RFP helps you communicate exactly what you're looking for, so agencies can propose solutions that match your vision, budget, and timeline.

Here's how you nail it:

– Clearly define the problem you're trying to solve.
– Be specific about your must-have features and requirements.
– Keep it lean—prioritize essential features that deliver maximum value.

Transparency in your roadmap and budget helps agencies provide precise, aligned estimates.

Lead by example, and you'll build stronger partnerships.

How do you know your startup idea is worth pursuing?

Roger Van Duinen, co-founder of Varo, offers an insightful perspective drawn from his journey building one of today's most innovative digital banks.

Instead of extensive market research upfront, Roger relied on industry conversations and a deep understanding of universal customer pain points: managing money and financial insecurity.

Why? Because sometimes the market need is crystal clear - even if customers aren't explicitly telling you yet.

Roger and his co-founder Colin identified that people universally cared about financial health but disliked traditional banks.

They saw an opportunity to create something entirely new: a user-centric bank people could actually appreciate, not merely tolerate.

The takeaway for founders?

Sometimes your industry experience and intuition - backed by strategic expert validation - can shortcut extensive early market validation, especially if you're solving an obvious and pervasive pain point.

Varo's success speaks for itself, with nearly $1 billion raised to date, reinforcing Roger's belief that deep industry insight paired with thoughtful ex*****on can disrupt even the most traditional industries.

Check out the video below to hear Roger share firsthand how Varo validated and executed their groundbreaking approach.
