Reissue from March this year is not just a return to the debut. This marks the reopening of a gate that BLACK WITCHCRAFT first cracked open in 2023 with the release of "Malignus – Interdicti Legendae De Viribus Infernis Diaboli" - material still pulsating with the remnants of cursed energy. Raw, tainted by something unsettling, it sounded like the whisper of someone, who had just discovered they could speak on behalf of the darkness.
Now unearthed and re-released by Under The Sign Of Garazel, the EP returns more aware of her own darkness—as if it had spent three years maturing in the shadows, later nourished by the full-length album released in 2025. First encounter with BLACK WITCHCRAFT is like stepping into a room, where no one has turned on the light for a long time. There are no spectacular fireworks here - instead, there is something far more unsettling: the sense that this music was not created to please, but to hover over the listener like a spell. It feels as though she is breathing out a coldness - not so much physica,l as emotional - like the touch of something long dead, that still remembers having once been alive.
Utwory snują się niczym dym z kadzidła: gęste, lepkie, nieprzyjemnie intymne. The rawness of the material is palpable; every reverberation sounds like an echo from a cellar where someone has locked away their own fears and let them ferment. The guitars lie in wait, deliberately slowing down their creeping riffs to force the listener to confront their filth. The drumming is minimalist - more ritualistic, than Metal - and the vocals resemble the whisper of someone standing too close, saying things, that shouldn't be heard. At times, the music sounds like a transmission glitch from another dimension - a sudden, unsettling suspension, followed by a return that feels more sinister, as if aware of its own presence.
This reissued EP hasn’t been polished up; it has been unearthed. You can still hear the raw grit of the debut, but now it is enveloped in an aura of something that has matured in the darkness. The reissue is neither nostalgic nor sentimental; rather, it serves as a reminder that the beginnings of BLACK WITCHCRAFT were more ritualistic than musical. It is a return to the place where their language of whispers, spells, and slow decay was born. This material is not for those seeking energy, melody, or classic Black Metal fury. If you enjoy music that doesn't so much play as haunt, this EP will do exactly that.
