From idea to implementation - Seismotion
In 2018, the March edition of Poligrafika, biggest industry newspaper in Poland, appeared in the long-awaited publication of an interview with the co-founder of Seismotion - Zofia Rosinska. The most important issue raised in the article was to present the genesis of the very implementation of the business idea in the printing industry and above all the opportunity to show off the highly-rated offset blanket bars manufactured by Seismotion. It is worth spending few moments for reading and finding out what plans this company has for the future and what else will surprise its customers.
Seismotion is a new brand on the printing market.
It manufactures bars for offset blankets, it also offers unique services.
What happened that the company operating in a completely different industry decided to engage in printing?
We talk about this with its co-founder, Zofia Rosińska, the former long-term president of the largest converter and distributor of offset blankets in Poland.
Poligrafika : How was Seismotion founded?
Zofia Rosinska: Seismotion is a family company. The genesis of its creation was the design and implementation of new technologies for the oil and gas industry. For many years, we've been building projects that had to meet the high demands of our clients. A large machine base, a team of experienced designers using the globalization process allow us to successfully deliver work for clients from all over the world.
So why did Seismotion decided to produce bars for offset blankets?
Many factors contributed to this idea. Despite the successes in the new industry for me, there has always been a longing for printing. I did not want to throw away a dozen or so years of my experience, knowledge of the market and all knowledge regarding the converting of blankets. It all started the thought of producing bars. All the facilities we had in our disposal at that time and experience in global sales have only ensured us in this decision.
P: However, it is usually a long way from idea to implementation?
ZR: Absolutely, I must say it was not easy.
First year was based only on collecting necessary information. The market analysis has strengthened our belief that the demand for steel sbars compared to aluminum is incomparably greater and this should be started. Then, in cooperation with a reputable laboratory, we conducted a series of tests to select the most suitable type of steel. At the end, we worked arduously for several months with designers, which resulted in the creation of an individually designed steel bars production line.
P: It does not look so hard when it comes to the implementation process itself.
ZR: It would seem that this is the case, but the devil is in the details. Along the way, there were many patches and countless tests to be able to boast of products at a high global level. We had to set the requirements very high to be able to face the monopolist in this industry. From the comments we have from our clients so far, I think we met the expectations. In particular, this applies to perforated bars that do not require gluing.
P: How is Seismotion different from the competition?
ZR: We've never analysed it in these aspects. We focused more on what the customer will gain, because he is the most important. We entered a very niche market where there are actually several suppliers. In many cases, we offer a very desirable product as one of two companies in the world. Such turbulence in a structured market will bring nothing but benefits for the customer. First of all, it forces us - producers to focus on the highest quality. In addition to the product itself, we also introduce new standards in cooperation with the client. We are more responsive, open to conversations and the additional facilities at our disposal allow us to offer non-standard services not previously available to the manufacturers of the offset blanket bars.
P: We'll ask you a few words about plans for the near future.
ZR:To be able to offer our clients a full range, we are now working on implementing new designs of aluminum bars. Several are ready for testing. By the end of this year, in addition to the full range of steel bars, our portfolio will include several of the most popular types of aluminum bars. This will allow us to meet nearly 90% of the market demand for aluminum products.
In addition to high-quality products, Seismotion is also after innovation that is part of our motto. Our team is working hard on new ideas. We're already holding some aces in our sleeve. Let's hope that they will be a good topic for the next interview ..
P: It might seem that this market is already structured and yet there are companies that successfully introduce new products and compete with them on global markets. I will closely follow your actions.
