When underwriting KPIs start trending in the wrong direction, insurers usually look at two things: team capacity and decision speed. But what if the real bottleneck lies somewhere else?

Underwriters lose time before they even begin assessing the risk. They chase missing documents, verify submission completeness, piece together the latest status and broker communications, and determine which cases should take priority.

As a result, submission throughput declines, turnaround times increase, and experienced underwriters spend less time on the work where their judgment adds the most value.

The maturity of a mobile banking app is not measured by how many features have been added to the roadmap.

What matters more is whether customers can still quickly and confidently complete the tasks they use the mobile channel for most often: checking their balance and recent activity, making a transfer, managing a card, finishing an application, or resolving a simple issue without contacting support.

As the product evolves, it’s easy to miss the moment when new modules, shortcuts, messages, and integrations start adding complexity instead of truly supporting the user.

That’s why a mobile banking roadmap should not start with the question, “What else can we build?” It should start by identifying where customers lose time, context, or confidence in what to do next.
