PTA Tax Exemption: Register Mobile Phones Tax-Free for 120 Days

In a landmark event today, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority's (PTA) Temporary Mobile Registration System, bringing significant relief to visitors carrying mobile phones to Pakistan. This initiative aims to facilitate overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals visiting the country by allowing them to register and utilize their personal mobile phones for up to 120 days from the date of their arrival, without incurring any PTA taxes.

Rehmatullah Mirbahar, a 34-year-old artist from a remote village in Pakistan's southern Sindh province, has gained viral fame for using artificial intelligence (AI) to reimagine life in Mohenjo Daro, one of the most impressive monuments from the beginning of human civilization. Despite facing criticism from his family for purchasing a computer, Mirbahar, who works as a computer operator at the Thatta district health department, taught himself how to use AI tools to create art through websites and YouTube tutorials. His images of Mohenjo Daro have received widespread praise, surprising and delighting the artist.

A spokesperson for The New York Times (NYT.N) announced that the newspaper will not pay a monthly fee to receive verified check mark status on Twitter. This statement came shortly after the newspaper lost its verified badge on the social media platform.

Under Twitter's updated policy, verified check marks are exclusively available through a paid subscription. Companies must pay $1,000 per month to receive gold check marks, while individuals can acquire blue checks for a minimum cost of $7 in the United States.
