Multi-national giant P&G has confirmed to close manufacturing and direct business in Pakistan, saying that it will shift to third-party distributors to keep products available.

The company has announced that transition will take a few months with priority on supporting employees. Impacted staff is also expected to get roles abroad or fair separation packages as part of P&G’s global restructuring drive.

Gilgit-Baltistan, known for its natural beauty, is also a major hub for cherry production in Pakistan. It produces 70% of the country's cherries, with over 5,000 tons grown this year alone. After Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan is the next largest cherry producer. The key cherry-producing areas within Gilgit-Baltistan—such as Hunza, Nagar, Yasin, Phundar, and Nomal—have the ideal climate and fertile land for high-quality cherries.

This year, cherries from Gilgit-Baltistan were not only enjoyed across Pakistan but also exported to China and Arab countries.
