🔬 CBC Smear: Normal vs Abnormal – Know the Difference!
A peripheral blood smear is one of the most powerful diagnostic tools in hematology. Here’s a quick comparison:
🟢 Normal Smear: • RBCs: Uniform size & shape (normocytic, normochromic)
• WBCs: Normal morphology
• Platelets: Adequate and evenly distributed
🔴 Abnormal Smear: • Anisocytosis & Poikilocytosis (variation in size & shape)
• Presence of Blast Cells (immature WBCs)
• Platelet abnormalities (low/high count)
⚠️ These findings may indicate conditions like anemia, infections, or hematological disorders.
💡 Lab Tip: Always correlate smear findings with CBC parameters for accurate diagnosis.
