گندم ہماری اہم اور اہم خوراک اور کیلوریز کا بنیادی ذریعہ ہے۔ ہمارا کھانا گندم کی روٹی کے بغیر ادھورا ہے۔ 125 کلوگرام فی کس سالانہ فرض کرتے ہوئے، ہمیں اپنے پڑوسیوں کے لیے تقریباً 2 MMT کے علاوہ، ہماری موجودہ 220 ملین کی آبادی کو کھانا کھلانے کے لیے 30 MMT (ملین میٹرک ٹن) سے زیادہ گندم کی ضرورت ہے۔ پنجاب میں گندم کی قلت۔
