Mento Your AI-powered study companion

That messy note you wrote at one in the morning still counts as study material.

Mento turns it into a real question. When you get stuck, it hands you a hint that teaches, not an answer that ends the thinking.

The hint points at where the method starts. Never at the result.

A hint you had to work with still counts as retrieval. An answer you were handed does not.

Using a hint is tracked, never punished.

Try it on one set of notes. That takes about two minutes and costs nothing.

You are not a visual learner. Nobody is. The idea has been tested enough times to say so plainly.

The preference is real. You genuinely do like the diagram better. That part was never in dispute.

What fails is the matching. Teach "visual learners" visually and they learn no better than anyone else. That holds across study after study built to find exactly that effect.

The real cost is not the belief. It is what the label licenses.

"Hindi ako reading learner" becomes a respectable-sounding reason to skip the two techniques that actually work: testing yourself, and spreading practice across days.

Mento does not ask what kind of learner you are. Walang quiz, walang badge. And there is no plan for one.

You can read one full Mento reviewer topic with no account at all. Judge the writing before you decide anything.

A reviewer is one topic from the exam's published scope, written out in full with a diagram or comparison table, a common-mistake warning, a recall check, and its own practice questions, each one explaining its answer.

They are openly AI-generated and openly unofficial. No examining body wrote or approved them. The questions are not past exam questions.

We would rather you read one before believing anything we say about them.

The UPCAT has four sections. That structure is public: Language Proficiency, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics, and Science.

Language Proficiency covers English and Filipino grammar and usage, plus vocabulary in context.

Reading Comprehension is locating explicit information in a passage, then inference and author intent.

Mathematics runs from arithmetic and elementary algebra through geometry, data analysis and probability.

Science spans biology, chemistry, physics, and earth and environmental science.

Section timing and item counts are revised between cycles. Confirm them against the official bulletin for your own application year.

Your reviewer cannot warn you about what it does not contain.

That is not a flaw in your reviewer. It is what a document is.

So Mento checks your materials, all of them together, against the exam's published scope. It names each topic that nothing in your pile covers.

Hindi hula: no outside scope, no verdict.

When a topic comes back as not in your materials, you add a file that covers it.

Then you check again.

Every study tool can tell you what your documents say. Almost none can tell you what they leave out.

Upload a file, get a quiz. Genuinely useful. Also structurally blind.

A tool that reads one document can only quiz you on that document, and score you on that document.

It will show you progress while a whole topic stays invisible. With one document, there is nothing to compare against.

Naming what is missing takes a list from outside your files. The exam's published scope, or the syllabus your course committed to.

That is the check Mento runs.

And when Mento has no outside authority to check against, it does not guess at your exam's coverage. It indexes what you have and says so.

Ang pinaka-delikadong topic ay yung hindi mo alam na wala ka pala.

Re-reading feels productive. It mostly isn't.

That strong "alam ko na 'to" after a second read is the fluency of reading. It says nothing about your memory.

What actually moves material into long-term memory is retrieval. Close the book. Produce the answer from a blank page, before you look.

It feels worse because you fail visibly. That discomfort is the mechanism working, not a sign to stop.

In the largest review of study techniques, only two came out rated highly across ages and subjects: self-testing and spaced practice. Re-reading and highlighting rated low.

Tonight's version:
Take one topic. Write questions from your notes, no answers. Close the notes. Answer from a blank page.

Your reviewer cannot warn you about the topics it does not contain — so Mento checks everything you have against the exam's published scope and names what is missing. Not guessed: the check only ever runs against an authority from outside your own files — a published exam scope, or the syllabus you upload. Without one, Mento will not invent your exam's coverage; it indexes what you have and says so plainly. And when a topic comes back as not in your materials, you stay in charge of what happens next: add a file that covers it, drill that one topic, say how sure you were before you see the answer, and check again. Same ledger, one row changed — because you changed it. Hindi mo kailangan ng mas makapal na reviewer. Kailangan mo lang malaman kung ano ang wala sa hawak mo.
