*The theme is inspired by Dr. Edwino Fernando and Dr. Marilyn Quimado's research, and made possible with the guidance of my OG Forest Blooms collaborators (since 2018!), Diane Estephanie Bagui and Schenley Anne Belmonte of Forest Foundation Philippines. They gave me Drs. Fernando and Quimado's book a few years back, which is what led me to build this volume around it. ๐Ÿฅฐ

A closer look at the chocolate bar gift box and coaster set made especially for the AHP Forum. With Forest Foundation Philippinesโ€™s guidance, I illustrated four Philippine ASEAN Heritage Parks: Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, Mt. Makiling Forest Reserve, Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park, and Mt. Kitanglad Natural Park. Each artwork highlights the site's flora and fauna alongside the people and produce
connected to it.

Huge thanks to Theo and Philo (whose chocolate gift boxes I often give to family & friends) and ๐—–๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—น๐˜† ๐—ฆ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ผ | ๐—–๐˜‚๐˜€๐˜๐—ผ๐—บ ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด & ๐—š๐—ถ๐—ณ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฟ for collaborating with us and bringing these to life, and of course Forest Foundation Philippines for always trusting me with their projects. ๐Ÿ’š

Do you have these planners already? started in 2018* with a simple goal: give Philippine native trees the spotlight they deserve. Volume 3 now widens that focus to flowering plants and continues the same journey. And if you've been with us since the beginning, thank you for growing with us. ๐Ÿƒ

Preorder details coming very soon, please stay tuned!๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ(If you're on the mailing list, you'll get the details, first dibs on a special add-on freebie, and the preorder link tomorrow. ๐Ÿค—)

Itโ€™s been a hectic 3rd quarter so last weekโ€™s Dumaguete trip with my husband Arnold Arre and parents turned out to be a much-needed break. Turns out fresh air, good food, and a whole lot of nature was exactly the creative reset we needed. โ›ฐ๏ธ Got to see cousins I havenโ€™t seen in years too and they took us all around their beautiful hometown. Sharing a few memories. โœจ

Confession: leaves have been a really challenging part of my plant illustration journey. I rarely look forward to drawing them but as someone who draws nature for conservation, I know they deserve a lot more attention than we usually give them.

Thankfully, working with Forest Foundation Philippines forester Diane over the years has taught me to slow down and really study venation, texture, apex shape, thickness, the presence or absence of trichomes (had to Google that!) and many small details that make each leaf distinct. (Thanks always for being patient with me, Diane! Diane Bagui ๐Ÿ’“)

Here are close-ups from my new Philippine native flora illustrations, but with the leaves as the main characters. ๐Ÿƒ

Spent the weekend sorting and packing your pre-ordered Philippine native biodiversity tote bags, and now the first batch of fully paid orders is on its way to you! ๐Ÿ“ฆ

Also listed a few pieces of each design in the shop, still at their original price. If I do another batch later this year, they may need to be priced a little higher because of rising labor and material costs. ๐Ÿ™

So very grateful for your support (and for my bag manufacturerโ€™s team for accommodating the orders and making these at such short notice). Hope youโ€™ll enjoy using your tote bag(s) every day. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Too busy to gift-wrap? I got you. ๐Ÿค— One reason I keep restocking my notebooks is that many of you said you love giving them as gifts because they already feel complete on their own since the wraparound illustrations of Philippine native species make them presentable without much extra packaging.

Plus who doesnโ€™t like notebooks? Theyโ€™re useful, they get used, and these ones also help introduce Philippine biodiversity. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

You can find these and many other gift-ready nature-inspired stationery in the shop (link in bio). ๐Ÿ˜Š

How many of the birds outside your window can you name? Philippine native city birds have been our neighbors for so long that we've almost stopped noticing them.

Swipe to meet some of the birds in this collection which I collaborated on with and let me know which one is a frequent visitor to your home. (For us, it's the Maria Capra. I see it teasing our dogs and snacking on the fruits of our Manila Palm almost every day! ๐Ÿ˜†)

Scarves are on preorder until Sunday, May 31 at 8 pm. Visit this link to order yours: https://bit.ly/TAWCBAscarvespreorder

P.S. That book peeking at the bottom of the cover photo is Wild City by The Ateneo Wild's Trinket Constantino and Abby Favis, together with U.P.โ€™s Jelaine Gan. Itโ€™s a really great guide to urban biodiversity in the Philippines, definitely worth checking out. ๐Ÿค—
