Part V: Is There Really an Overpriced Item in Crafting?

In crafting, pricing isn’t just about materials—it’s about skill, creativity, and the final outcome. Some may wonder if certain handmade items are overpriced, but can something truly be “overpriced” when it reflects the effort and artistry behind it?

Even when using the same materials, no two crafters will produce identical results. The final output depends on the artist’s skill, vision, and attention to detail. A well-crafted piece stands out, not just because of what it’s made of, but because of how it’s made. That level of craftsmanship carries value.

Overpricing happens when something is valued far beyond what it offers. But in crafting, where each piece is uniquely made, pricing is often a fair reflection of the time, effort, and expertise involved. The worth of a handmade item isn’t just in its cost—it’s in the beauty and artistry that make it one of a kind.

Part IV: The Beginner’s Crafts – A Reminder, Not for Sale

When starting a new craft, the first few pieces are usually trial and error. They’re not perfect, and that’s okay! These early creations are part of our learning journey, showing how much we improve over time. Instead of selling them, let’s keep them as keepsakes—a reminder of where we started.

Selling crafts that don’t meet our quality standards can affect customer feedback and future orders. We want our customers to trust our work and come back for more. So, let’s focus on mastering our craft first before putting our work up for sale. Quality over quantity always!

Part III: Know Your Worth—Not All Crafts Are the Same

Crafters, stop measuring your prices against others. Ask yourself: Is their craftsmanship the same as yours? Do they use the same quality materials? Is their final product as refined as yours? The answer is often no.

Find the right market for your work. If it's an urgent need, an emergency, or your only option as a full-time housewife, then pricing lower might be necessary. But if not, don’t undervalue yourself just to match someone else’s price.

Your skills, creativity, and effort have worth. Charge accordingly. 💜

Part II: Time is Money—Treat Your Craft Like a Real Job

If you spend 8 hours a day crafting, then your income should reflect the effort of a full-time job. Many crafters overlook the value of their labor, leading to exhaustion with little financial return.

Think about it: If you can make a single-stem bouquet in 30 minutes and only add a ₱20 markup per piece, you can complete 16 in an 8-hour workday. That means your total earnings for the day would be just ₱320—far too low for a full shift of work. Would you accept a regular job that pays that little?

Your craft isn’t just a hobby—it’s a profession. Monitor how long each product takes to make, set a target daily income, and adjust your pricing accordingly. Handmade work deserves respect, and that starts with you valuing your own time and talent.

Crafting is work—price like a professional, not just a seller. 💜

Part I: Value Beyond Capital

I hope all crafters consider more than just their capital when pricing their work. Anyone can create, but not everyone does it with heart and passion. Some settle for a “pwede na ’to” mindset, while others strive for near perfection.

Everyone may do the same craft, but every output is different. The steps in creating a masterpiece matter—attention to detail and the process itself are key to achieving one. If you have an eye for good color combinations, material mixing, and design, you’re not just selling a product—you’re selling your talent and creativity.

Price your craft with confidence. 💜
