IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: We celebrated the culmination of the Synthetic Aperture Radar and Automatic Identification System for Innovative Terrestrial Monitoring and Maritime Surveillance (SARwAIS) Project.

Attended by our very supportive DOST Officials including Undersecretary Undersecretary for Research and Development Dr. Leah J. Buendia, as well as Philippine Space Agency’s Deputy Director General Sir Denis Villorente, the event marked the successful completion of six years of dedicated efforts aimed at enhancing the country's capabilities in terrestrial monitoring and maritime surveillance.

The event is capped by the unveiling of “Boundless Horizons”, a book showcasing the space odyssey of the Philippines. This book offers an insightful narrative of the Philippines' voyage into space science; showcasing how the SARwAIS Project, as well as other DOST-funded space projects, harnessed the vastness of space technology that contributed to the betterment of our nation.

The SARwAIS Project has recently completed a significant milestone in its mission to advance disaster management capabilities in the Philippines using earth observation data, especially those coming from Novasar-1 satellite.

In its final leg of the Basic Artificial Intelligence and Remote Sensing Training Series, the project targeted technical project officers of the Accelerated Earthquake Multi-hazards Mapping and Risk Assessment Program of the Philippines (ACER Program).

The ACER Program is dedicated to filling critical gaps in earthquake hazard mapping, seeking to provide rapid and detailed hazard assessments for the nation.

In response to Presidential Proclamation No. 302 declaring August 8-14 of every year to be the Philippine Space Week, the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) launched a series of events with the theme Yamang Kalawakan Tungo sa Maunlad na Kinabukasan today.

With the goal of promoting space awareness as mandated by the proclamation, PhilSA hosted the signing of Memoranda with different National Government and Non-Government Agencies, including the tripartite memorandum of understanding among DOST-ASTI and PhilSA with the Land Bank of the Philippines and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR), respectively.
