Dry Drowning.
On Steam, Dry Drowning is positioned as a visual novel, although this is not entirely true. And it’s not just that here we have a mixture of cyberpunk and noir with characters who look like normal people (and not like pop-eyed guys with purple hair), there’s also a lot of gameplay in Dry Drowning. And quite interesting.
To the city of vices - a vicious detective
Of course, the authors of Dry Drowning mercilessly exploit noir cliches, such as rain, neon signs, a detective with a dark past who will never become the face of an anti-tobacco campaign (he never parted with a cigarette in principle), sad piano sounds, beautiful girls who are either brutally killed , or kidnapped, searching for an inexorable maniac... And all this - in a typical cyberpunk city, ruled by corporations, security systems and depression.
But admit it, reading this already makes you want to play Dry Drowning. The mixture of cyberpunk and noir is atmospheric by definition (fans of Blade Runner will not let you lie), and then the story and characters are written at a decent level.
We play as private detective Mordred Foley, who works in the gloomy futuristic city of Nova Polemos. Foley has his own agency, a personal assistant, Hera (who is also his mistress), and a reputation that makes almost the entire city hate him. The fact is that some time ago Foley was accused of falsifying evidence in a serial murder case, which is why seemingly innocent people were executed.
Having miraculously avoided prison (thanks to the charismatic lawyer!), Mordred and Hera were seemingly left without work, but then a lady came to their office and made an offer that was impossible to refuse - to investigate the murder of the mistress of a presidential candidate. It is this candidate who is accused of a crime, and we need to acquit him - Mordred has a very suitable reputation for this...
