Mary is honored as Consolatrix Afflictorum because, as a loving mother, she draws near to those who suffer, grieve, and carry the burdens of life. Having shared deeply in the joys and sorrows of her Son, especially at the foot of the Cross, she understands the pain of the human heart and accompanies her children with maternal tenderness.

Her presence does not remove every suffering, but she leads the afflicted to Christ, the true source of comfort, healing, and hope. As the Consolation of the Afflicted, Mary reminds the faithful that no sorrow is carried alone and that, through faith, even suffering can become a path toward deeper trust in God.

In a meaningful celebration of faith and ecclesiastical identity, the faithful community of the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of The Sacred Heart in Binangonan, Rizal solemnly witnessed the launching of its official Coat of Arms and Seal on August 6, 2026, Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord.

These heraldic emblems serve as visible expressions of the Shrineโ€™s spiritual identity, history, and pastoral mission under the loving patronage of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Through their sacred symbolism, the coat of arms and seal reflect the Shrineโ€™s call to lead the faithful into a deeper encounter with Christ, whose Sacred Heart is the source of divine love, mercy, and hope.

The launching marks a significant milestone in the continuing journey of the Shrine community, strengthening its identity as a place of prayer, pilgrimage, evangelization, and spiritual renewal. These emblems will serve as lasting reminders of the Shrineโ€™s mission to make the compassionate and merciful Heart of Christ known and loved.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus continue to reign in the hearts of the faithful and inspire the Shrine community to become witnesses of His love, mercy, and charity to all.

The shield is a party per bend sinister. The sinister in Argent (silver) is stylized cottised with a pattern of three lines Azure (blue). This is a depiction of the sari or the pattern of the lines in the habit of the Missionaries of Charity founded by St. Teresa of Calcutta, often called as "Mother Teresa". According to a biographer of the saint, "Mother selected the blue border, for we associate the colour blue with Mother Mary. It stands for purity. Also in those days women who swept the streets used to wear a si- milar kind of a sari.

The color of their sari - white - stands for truth and purity while the three blue borders each signify the vows that the nuns of the Order take: the first band represents Poverty, the second Obedience and the third broad band represents the vows of Chastity and of wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor.

St. Teresa was appointed as titular patroness of the community of Castilla in 2018 upon the decree of Most Rev. John F. Du, D.D., Archbishop of Palo.

Bro. Kendrick Ivan Panganiban, Lay Secretary of ACSP - Association of Catholic Shrines and Pilgrimages of the Philippines delivered a catechesis on the โ€œRole of Shrines in View of the New Evangelizationโ€ at The Divine Mercy Parish, Baguio City last June 13, 2026.

The presentation explored the vital role of shrines in the Churchโ€™s mission of evangelization, emphasizing their importance as places of encounter with Christ, renewal of faith, prayer, healing, and conversion. The catechesis highlighted how shrines can become effective instruments of the New Evangelization by welcoming pilgrims, strengthening popular devotion, proclaiming the Gospel, and leading people toward a deeper participation in the sacramental and missionary life of the Church.

In the spirit of the Season of Creation, we are reminded that our care for the environment is not separate from our faith. Through the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose life points us toward Christ and His loving care for all creation, we are called to become faithful stewards of the earthโ€”especially of water, a precious gift and source of life.

As we reflect on this September 2026 papal intention for the care of water, may our prayers, Marian devotions, and pastoral actions move beyond devotion alone and lead us toward concrete acts of protection, conservation, and responsible stewardship of our common home.
