THE NATIONAL SHRINE AND PARISH OF ST. PADRE PIO ELEVATED AS AN INTERNATIONAL SHRINE

With hearts full of gratitude and joy, the faithful welcome the great blessing bestowed upon the National Shrine and Parish of St. Padre Pio as it officially receives the decree from the Holy See granting its elevation as an International Shrine.

The decree was issued on May 25, 2026, at Vatican City, through the office of the Dicastery for Evangelization, a significant date that coincided with the 139th Birth Anniversary of St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina.

This momentous recognition is a testament to the deep faith and devotion of countless pilgrims who continue to seek the intercession of St. Padre Pio, a humble servant of God known for his profound love for Christ, dedication to prayer, and compassion toward all people.

As we prepare for the solemn declaration of the shrine’s new status on September 23, the Feast Day of St. Padre Pio, may this historic milestone inspire us to strengthen our faith, deepen our prayer life, and remain united in thanksgiving to the Lord.

May the example of St. Padre Pio continue to guide us closer to Christ and remind us of the power of faith, humility, and love.

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
