I want to share a bit of my story.
A few years ago, I had the chance to stay in the U.S. My first hands-on, on-site IT experience there was with YMCA of the Rockies, where I worked as IT and Web support.
That role really shaped me. I handled help desk requests, supported users, and dealt with real-world IT issues daily. It wasnโt just technical work, it taught me how to communicate with people, solve problems under pressure, and be accountable for systems that others rely on.
At the same time, it was a great life experience. I met people from different parts of the world, built friendships, and learned how to adapt in a completely new environment. Looking back, that was a period where I really grew. My confidence improved, my mindset changed, and I started taking my skills more seriously.
Because of that experience and the path I was on, I was later offered a full tuition scholarship at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley to take up a Masterโs in Informatics focused on cybersecurity and network security.
Honestly, it was a great opportunity. Everything pointed to staying.
But deep down, something didnโt feel right.
I missed home. I missed my family. And I realized that the kind of life I wanted wasnโt there. It was here.
So I decided to come back to the Philippines.
When I got home, I started noticing something that really stuck with me. A lot of businesses, even growing ones, donโt have proper IT systems in place. Some are still doing things manually. Some have networks that arenโt secured. Most are just fixing problems when they happen instead of preventing them.
At the same time, technology is moving so fast. AI, automation, cybersecurity. It made me think weโre missing out on a lot of opportunities.
Right now, Iโm working with a U.S.-based MSP and supporting multiple businesses, so Iโve seen how much of a difference structured and well-managed IT can make.
Thatโs when it clicked for me.
Maybe I can bring some of that here.
Thatโs why I started ALM IT Solutions.
Not just to fix computers, but to help businesses here run better, safer, and more efficiently using proper systems and practices.
Iโm not trying to copy whatโs in the U.S. exactly. I just want to take what works and adapt it to our environment here.
If I can help even a few businesses improve, thatโs already a win for me.
If youโre a business owner and youโre not sure if your IT setup is secure or efficient, feel free to message me. Iโd be happy to take a look and help however I can.
