⚠️Precautionary Advisory: Don’t Power On Water-Damaged Electronics!
(What to Do and What to Avoid After Typhoon or Flooding)
If your electronic devices — such as laptops, desktops, TVs, routers, printers, power tools, or any appliance — were submerged in floodwater, please follow these critical precautions to avoid permanent damage, short circuits, or even fire hazards:
❌ NEVER turn on or plug in the device to “test” if it still works.
Floodwater often contains mud, minerals, and conductive residue. Even a few drops trapped inside circuits can cause a short circuit, electric shock, or irreversible board damage the moment power is applied.
🔌 Disconnect all power sources immediately.
Unplug devices from outlets and remove batteries (if possible). Avoid touching any wet plug or socket — water conducts electricity and may cause electrocution.
💨 Do NOT attempt to dry with a hair dryer, oven, or direct heat.
Heat can warp delicate components, melt connectors, or spread internal moisture deeper into circuits.
🕒 Allow the device to dry naturally — for days or even weeks.
Place in a well-ventilated area with air circulation. Some devices may require two weeks or more of drying, especially if fully submerged.
🔧 Bring it only to a trusted and qualified service center.
Professional technicians can safely open the device, clean and dry internal boards using proper solvents and diagnostic tools, and test safely under controlled conditions.
⚠️ Do not be misled by devices that “seem” to work after drying.
Hidden corrosion and residue can cause delayed failure weeks or months later. Preventive cleaning and inspection are still necessary.
🧤 Practice safety first.
Wear rubber slippers or gloves when handling wet electronics, and keep away from standing water or damp floors to avoid electric shock.
