Let's Revive Cebu's 19-Forgotten Rails!
Here’s a conceptual railway system for Metro Cebu by integrating parts of the original pre-WWII train route. At the heart of it all is Cebu Central Station—the main interchange located at Cebu South Road Properties. All three lines start here and branch out across the metro:
🔹 Cebu Central Station – Central hub where all lines converge and depart. It anchors the system at the heart of the metro, ensuring seamless transfers between northbound, southbound, and airport-bound routes.
🔹 Argao Line (Southbound) – Heads south through Talisay, Minglanilla, Naga, San Fernando, Carcar, Sibonga, and ends at Argao. A vital southern line serving key growth areas—with a proposed extension pointing further south toward Santander.
🔹 Danao Line (Northbound) – Travels northward passing Plaza Independencia, with underground stations at SM Mabolo, Parkmall, and Pacific Mall, continuing to the densely populated city of Danao. Built for high-density northern transit, with a potential extension continuing beyond Danao to San Remigio or Daanbantayan.
🔹 Airport Line (Eastbound) – Connects to Mactan-Cebu International Airport via CCLEX, with a Cordova stop, and ends at an underground airport terminal station. Offers fast, direct airport access—critical for business, tourism, and regional connectivity.
This conceptual map integrates historical context with forward-thinking design, aiming to spark dialogue about the future of sustainable mass transit in Cebu. Arrow indicators at the ends of the north and south lines suggest potential future expansion.
