TOP TEN TIPS TO REMEMBER

1. Have battery and charging system checked by qualified persons seasonally.
2. Batteries produce explosive gasses. Avoid sparks and open flames near the battery.
3. Always disconnect the negative ground lead when working on or near the battery.
4. Visually inspect the battery on a regular basis. Terminals must be clean and tight. Top of battery is clean and dry. Remove any oil and dirt that may accumulate.
5. Check the electrolyte level. Top up with distilled water. Do not overfill!
6. Check that the battery is held securely. Inspect hold-down nuts and bolts for looseness and corrosion.
7. When storing for long periods. Make sure the battery is fully charged and store in a cool and dry place. Avoid excessive heat or cold.
8. If car is used on short trips, take it out for occasional long drives to fully charge the battery.
9. Avoid overcharging and deeply discharging the battery, these will shorten the battery life.
10. Avoid boosting vehicles with sophisticated electronics, especially newer car models.

1. My car won't start, there are no lights, no horn, no power.
-Check battery for loose terminals.
-Check battery, if battery is discharged, charge battery.

2. My car won't start, there is power but slow engine crank.
-Check battery for loose terminals.
-Check terminal connections for loose or dirty connections.
-Check negative ground connections.
-Check battery, if battery is discharged, charge battery.
-Check starter.

3. My car won't start but sometimes it does.
-Check for loose terminals causing intermittent power.
-Check battery and starting system.
-Check starter.
4. The battery terminals and area around the battery are always corroded.
-Check solution level, do not overfill.
-Check that the charging system is not overcharging. Ideal voltage reading should be 13.4 volts to 14.6 volts, a charge of 15 volts and above will overcharge the battery.
-Check for leaks in the battery casing.
-Check for clogged caps, pressure will push the solution out of the battery regardless of solution height.
-Check the case and caps for signs of heating.

5. The lights of my car only brighten when I rev the engine.
-Check for loose terminals causing intermittent power.
-Check charging system is charging properly. Ideal voltage reading should be 13.4 to 14.6 volts.
-Check that the charging system is not overloaded. Use only the required capacity load for your charging system.

6. My car won't start, I haven't used it for one (1) month.
-Check battery. A battery will discharge within forty-five (45) days even when not in use and the discharging rate is faster during cold temperatures. Have the battery slow charged.
7. My car won't start but only during the mornings.
-Check battery terminals.
-Check battery charging condition.

8.My car engine is running but the battery icon on my dashboard remain lighted.
-Check charging system. This icon indicates that you are using the power from your battery instead of your charging system.

9. My battery is of a different brand, can I still avail of Outlast's free services?

Warranty Application:

Warranty does not apply when the following conditions exist:

Damage due to fire, wreckage, explosion, abuse or similar conditions.

The battery case or cover were broken after installation.

Failure to add distilled water or demineralized water [for topping] to the battery cell when electrolyte levels falls below the top of the plates.

There is indication of over or under charging of the battery.

Faulty electrical parts of the vehicle caused the damage to the battery.

Using battery smaller than the correct specification.

There is evidence that an additive other than distilled water was used for topping.

Tampering of code and other official markings of the battery.

IMPORTANT:
Do not fail to present the warranty card to your preferred dealer whenever the battery is sent for service.

Take proper care of the Battery to Insure Maximum Service.
1. Check for cracks or deformation of battery case which could be the result of:
a]. Excessive tightening of hold-down attachment
b]. Loose hold-down attachment
c]. Buckled battery plates that results to bulging of battery case
2. Make sure generator / alternator or voltage regulator of the vehicle are functioning properly.
3. Keep your battery fully charged but not over-charged.
4. Keep battery cable terminal tight and clean to avoid loose contact.
5. Check electrical circuit for worn cables and busted fuses.
6. Do not let your battery water level go below the top of the battery plates.
7. Use distilled water when adding water to your battery.
8. Do not over-load or ever-charge your battery.

PROPER BATTERY MAINTENANCE

1. Check the condition of the battery. Make sure that the solution is at an ample level.
2. Check for loose contacts. Make sure that the terminals are always clean. A corroded clamp will have little contact on the battery post thus stopping current flow. Apply mineral grease or petroleum jelly on the terminals to prevent corrosion.
3. Check for loose clamps, terminals, and body ground.
4. Before starting the vehicle, check for unwanted load. Make sure that all accessories are switched "OFF."
5. For diesel engine vehicles, maintain a good set of heater plugs. A quick heating engine will be quick to start.
6. In the condition that the battery discharges, it must be brought to full charge to prevent sulfating.
7. Check the charging system. The ideal volt reading is 13.4 volts to 14.6 volts for 12 volt systems and 26.8 volts to 29.2 volts for 24 volt systems.
8. Spouting of the electrolyte solution indicates overcharging. Check the voltage regulator.
9. Boiling when the RPM increases indicates overcharging. Check the voltage regulator.
10. Frequent addition of the distilled water indicates leak or overcharging.
11. Broken and exploding cases were caused by overcharging or plugged vents.
12. Intermittent presence of power indicates loose contacts. Check terminals and body ground.
13. Sparking during installation indicates short or reverse polarity. Stop installation and check connections.
14. Presence of smoke inside the cell indicates a shorted cell.
15. High specific gravity reading indicates high sulfur content in solution. Reduce the level of solution and add distilled water according to concentration of solution.
