THE DIGITAL GOVERNMENT PLAN 2023-2027: A SECTOR PLAN TO DIGITISE ALL GOV-TO-GOV, GOV-BUS, GOV-CITIZEN SERVICES
The Plan will start by digitizing critical processes for service delivery: eProcurement, ePublicServiceHR, eCabinet, eParliament, etc.
The Plan will then look at digitizing business and citizen-faced services such as eCensus and eVoting.
This will be followed by business/economic-related services including applying and renewing for Business Certificate, Tax Number, Filing Tax Returns, and Opening Bank accounts all in a 'one window platform'.Key to delivery on all digital services will be through the Png Ict Cluster. We anticipate signing an MOU and will be encouraging all ICT SMEs and startups to register with the Clusters.
Citizens should have ease of access to digital services through a one-window platform accessible by smartphone, laptop, or PC.
Digitization of our government is important not only for the delivery of efficient services but also cuts out unnecessary spending on manual processes and eliminates corruption.
We have been grateful to reach this far through the endorsement of the Digital Transformation Policy in 2020 and the passing of the Digital Government Act 2022.
Our goal next will be to commence consultation with the public on the draft Plan and align it with the 2023 National Budget.
It is certainly safe to say that for the ICT and digital sector this is indeed an exciting time!
