The "Calculator App" Hack on Whatsapp application— What is it?
Some hackers use fake "Calculator Apps" (or "Vault Apps") as a disguise for spyware or malicious tools. These apps look like a normal calculator, but when a secret code or password is entered, it opens a hidden interface to steal data or control the device.
How could this be used to hack WhatsApp?
Here’s how an attacker might use it on Android:
1. They trick the victim into installing a fake Calculator App on their android phone.
The app is actually a Remote Access Trojan (RAT) or spyware.
It hides itself by looking like a normal calculator.
2. Once installed, it can:
Record keystrokes (including WhatsApp verification codes).
Access stored WhatsApp data.
Bypass security settings.
Read notifications (for OTP codes).
Clone WhatsApp session using stolen data.
3. The attacker could remotely access:
Contacts, messages, media.
WhatsApp backup files (if accessible).
Microphone or camera to spy.
How is it installed?
Usually via:
Malicious APK files shared on social media or via links.
Fake app stores.
Phishing attacks.
How to Protect Yourself:
Only download apps from Google Play Store.
Check app permissions — a calculator app should not request access to messages, contacts, or storage.
Use antivirus software.
Enable Google Play Protect.
Watch for unusual phone behavior — overheating, battery drain, unknown apps.
Important: This method does not hack WhatsApp directly through the calculator app — it depends on social engineering and tricking users into installing spyware disguised as a calculator.
