The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority was established in 2002 to liberalize and promote telecommunication services in the Sultanate under the Telecom Act. TRA is committed to develop the telecommunications sector in the Sultanate by regulating and maintain telecom services, promoting the spread of the telecommunication services protecting the interest of the beneficiaries, and ensuring that

consumers receive international-standard quality of telecommunication services.


أنشأت هيئة تنظيم الاتصالات بمقتضى المرسوم السلطاني رقم 30/2002، و ذلك لتنفيذ السياسة العامة المعتمدة لتنمية و تطوير قطاع الاتصالات بالسلطنة بما يحقق الوفاء بمتطلبات التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية و فتح باب المنافسة في خدمات الاتصالات و تشجيع الاستثمار في القطاع و رعاية و تنمية مصالح السلطنة في مجالات الاتصالات مع الدول أو المنظمات الدولية و الإقليمية.
و تهدف الهيئة بصفة أساسية إلى ضمان توفير خدمات الاتصال في جميع أنحاء السلطنة بأسعار معقولة و تشجيع استخدام هذه الخدمة لزيادة الصادرات و الوصول إلى الأسواق مع ضمان الاستخدام الأمثل للطيف الترددي و تهيئة الظروف المناسبة للمنافسة و تشجيع إجراء البحوث و مراعاة مصالح المنتفعين.
