Ever been confused? I have (quite often tbh).
This is a story about one of those times, and it highlights a important aspect of UX design standards.
Keeping to standards reduces the mental load it takes for people to use your product / website etc.
Imagine if every time you had to pay for something you had to learn a new payment method.
Or every time you used a different computer the keyboard had a different layout.
You'd have to use so much more brain power everyday.
Standards make the world bearable to be in.
So, sticking to them is usually the best plan.
That is unless, like in this scenario, you have a good reason.
